About the Petzl Ascension Left Ascender

The Petzl ASCENSION Left Ascender is a rope clamp built for rope ascents, giving left-handed users a comfortable, powerful grip whether pulling with one or two hands.

The dual-density overmolded handle keeps your hand firmly in place, with a dedicated index finger area and a wide, supportive base that prevents slipping under load. The wide opening allows a solid grip even with thick gloves, and the ergonomic upper section maximizes power when pulling with both hands. The safety catch is fully integrated into the clamp body to avoid snagging, operable with one hand, and easy to install or remove anywhere on the rope. The toothed cam features a self-cleaning slot for consistent performance in dirty, wet, or frozen conditions.

The wide lower hole allows attaching carabiners for both a PROGRESS lanyard and FOOTAPE or FOOTCORD footloops at the same time, while the upper hole lets you clip a carabiner around the rope when needed. Compatible with ropes from 8 to 13 mm.
