Hi, Guys I am planning on starting my Water Fed Window cleaning business this Spring based in Canada, Ontario,would anybody know an Ballpark figure for insurance would usually cost for year or month. I am also looking into getting good liability insurance 2mill 3 mill not sure! that covers me and my customers if so can you provide companies names and numbers.

Do a search and you will find about 1,510 results on Insurance, some of the guys here use Joseph D. Walters.
They cater exclusively for pressure washing contractors and if you’re a member of WCRA, you may get a discount I think.

About 1k for a mill but make damn sure u have care and coverage otherwise u have no insurance. Agents will tell u ur covered for everything but ur covered for nothing without care and coverage. Call Joseph’s walters. Insurance guys will tell u everything u want to hear and they will lie right to ur face. But again without care and coverage u r really not insured. Read a bunch of the past posts. It goes like this I have insurance broke a $7,000 chandler they said I’m not covered

Unless it’s specifically written down - it’s not covered. Unless it’s specialised insurance, most insurance brokers are just salesmen, trying to get your money and say anything to get it!
If you are not good with insurance jargon, then ask the broker to write it down in leymans terms, and have them sign it (because they are responsible to cover you in this event, as you have recourse against them)
My brokers specifically break it down into terms i understand, so i know what is covered.
He’s right! Happened to me last year! Paid over $4500.00 out of pocket, then got Joseph Walters…BTW, don’t let the fact that they’re the best and only company who offers this coverage scare you. Their pricing is excellent!

As Dexter and Jesse said “check” you will be surprised as they and i were… Tho i haven’t had to pay out of pocket to find that one out.
I read here and checked-up on my insurance. Had to talk with 3-4 people to get the right answers tho…
Here in Alberta i pay about $40 a month for $1M liability and up to 4 stories for window cleaning and Christmas light installation. That is through Wawanesa

I received a quote for insurance today from J. Walters.
$3,300.00 a year!
They said they can broker it through another underwriter for only $2,400.00!
I’m now paying Gaslamp insurance about $800.00 per year.
Translation: instead of charging me 4 times as much, they’ll get me a great deal for only 3 times as much as I’m paying now.
I don’t know. Maybe it’s just me but does anyone else think that is TOO DAMN EXPENSIVE?!!!

That sounds like a lot, but you better make sure you have…Care, Custody,and control In that policy for 800.00 a year .
I’m not goin to get Into details , because I’m still sick to my stomach, but I just switch over to JD Walters this past year if I didn’t my last insurance wouldn’t of covered what had happened . I was paying 1100.00 a year with past insurance company with JD Walters 1700.00 a year. I guess that is going to go up now…sick feeling , but atleast I didn’t have to shell out the money out of my pocket that would of been even more sick .
A friend of mine got denied this past year for a glass scratching incident, so he had to shell money out of his pocket … So long story short ya Care, custody an control it’s for real … don’t be cheap .

How about basic liability insurance coupled with a signed non responsibility agreement? Wouldn’t that match care, custody and control?

But you’ll need a good lawer to write it up! (because you could end up relying on that signed document, if a customer seeks legal help - and you’ll have to deal with all the legal stuff)
Your commercial T&C’s would also have to comply with that document. There’s probably far more things required.
Cheaper to buy the insurance.
+1 on the lawyer. I had one massage my scratch waiver document. Best. Trade. Ever. Except her house was freakin huge, but she also massaged my non-compete and she’s a loyal customer so it worked out great.
