Who here does cold calling?

When you say January is a good time to start thinking about a campaign, are you talking about something along the lines of what Chris said in the post before yours, or are you talking about calling folks in January or February?

Both. It’s always best to call your current clients to renew them for the upcoming season.

Once you have that campaign under control, it’s time to cold call. Your focus can be on filling gaps in your route work, or adding another neighborhood.

It’s also a good time make sure your client info is updated ie email addresses etc.

If i am cold calling I won’t leave a message. If I am renewing customers, I will leave a message after the third try.

Hi Chris, I am just seeing this post. How did you track the calls? What system/process did you have in place to know when to call each customer and the results of each call?

I’ve always seen better results - in any type sales - knocking on doors rather than dialing phones.

I’ve heard the old argument about how the phone allows the salesperson to reach more clients in less time. That’s true, and that would be a relevant point if phone calls and face to face calls were closed at the same rate. At the end of the day, I want a list of jobs sold, not a list of people called.
