What do I do about signs and banners?

I recently got amy first storefront. Small $25 store in a strip mall inside and out. They have an “open” sign that is kinda like a neon light and they also have a banner on the window right over the doors. Do I remove this sign and banner or do they? Honestly the banner may have to be removed with a step stool and I dont have one. What do I do about this?

This is something you’ll need to discuss when it applies. Can’t really wait till after you submitted a price because what if you have extra time now that you didn’t plan on that requires you to remove those items

Thanks I guess it will be a lessoned learned. Its ok though even if owner wants me to move it it wont take too much time.

those neon signs are very fragile and very expensive, be careful moving them.

Have two poles for storefront. One for your scrubber, one for your Wagtail. Got a Wagtail right? Hold the neon off the window with the squeegee to wet the glass, then use the HANDLE end of the scrubber pole to replace the squeegee all while keeping the sign out of your soup. Squeegee carefully, and gently lower neon back to position. You’ll probably only get the top half of the glass squeegeed one handed, just do the bottom half once the sign is back in position safely. Buy a step stool at a tag sale for less than $25. Profit!

Maybe its just where im at in the mid south but every single storefront has at least 3 or 4 signs. Do you usually negotiate beforehand and have them move them?

There used to be a guy on here that noone likes anymore that helped some. He had a couple of standoff things he’d wedge between the neon and the window frame on both sides that would leave a gap to clean from underneath. You’re not going to escape having to deal with the signs. Your the pro, figure out a safe system that works for you and doesn’t slow you down too much and figure in the little extra time into your quote. We call it the PITA factor.

no i dont ask the customer to do much of anything when it comes to store fronts.

if there are 2 or 3 neon signs, i’ll usually lift one sign at a time and wash behind it, then squeegee that off -even if that is only a part of the window, then repeat until the wgile window is clean …

if they are big signs that take up the entire window (like above a door) i just won’t clean those (except for the outside).

i have never had any complaints.
