Trouble customer--need advice on how to handle

Nope. I’m 100% confident they were not mixed up. Not by me anyways.

By the way, thank you for all the replies. This helps me out immensely.

The customer left it with me that they were going to fiddle with it Sat. with some WD-40 but if they can’t get it they want me to come Mon. I’m praying their fiddling does what they want it to and I don’t have to have a showdown.

Needless to say the stress has ruined the weekend for me a bit.

It may be something simple - no stress needed. Once it is resolved then it is a done deal. Part of your service should be “customer service”.

While I believe in customer service too, I personally would not be going back for free. There would be a charge for showing back up… IMO, these people are ridiculous. I don’t think these people will ever be happy with anything. Some may think you are standing on the higher ground, but the reality is these people are taking advantage of you and costing you money (time is money). You already lost money on the job, now you are going to lose more, likely have to listen to him growl about something that isn’t your fault, and reinforce to them that you will come to his aid for free in the future.

I run a business not a charity. I give to people and organizations that I deem worthy of it, not to some jerk who demands it.

How much you want to bet there’s a piece of the story missing on their end, like the windows were painted or something.

Either way, 5 months after the fact, they’re beat. I would explain that (nicely) and wish them luck in finding a new service provider.

what was the outcome

Thanks for asking!

So, here we are 2 weeks later. He’s called and texted twice to tell me he hadnt gotten around to messing with his windows but he will in 2 days abd will let me know the outcome (never has).

He also asked me to bid on the windows at a house he’s going to sell. Added a PITB tax even and he told me that he’ll contact me in 2 weeks to do it (I don’t believe him).

In the meantime, I’ve cleaned two homes with windows just like his. Both homeowners told me the storms seize up on the triple tracks and need to be lubricated periodically.

Bottom line…I know how to bid right…I did not damage those windows. So if he pushes it, I’ll tactfully tell him it’s nit my fault then block his number.

Lessons learned: stress will shorten your life (like you all said), this Guy is a sociopath taking advantage of my “nice guy” demeanor and bullying me like I’m in high school. He can go jump in the lake.

I appreciate everyone’s responses and helping me out. I’ll post if there’s a final show-down.
