Sponsoring a local team or your company banner on the outfield wall?

Anyone do this? Usually is a few hundred bucks per season.

Nope.

Awesome, Jack. :unamused:

Why not?

nope

This will be my 3rd year coaching little league baseball. The first year coaching, I sponsored a team and got no work from it. It was $450. Haven’t done it again.

Save your money and take your wife on a nice relaxing vacation.

Yes, i wont be doing it anytime soon. Just wanted to know if anyone had experience.

It is something you do to support your kids team more than to acquire more work, there will be zero people thinking about their windows when they are watching their kids play.

Hockey teams, not for advertising, just supporting local teams.

Also my local church 2-3 times a year

Isnt that the point of advertising? I’m not particularly thinking about eating Honey Nut Cheerios or applying deodorant to my underarms when I’m watching the Pats game.

It is exposure (and helping fund the teams). If you can swing showing your business name through exposure in several places, eventually it may pay off.

I think @HBM has done something similar to this in his town

I am one of the sponsors of the local semi-pro fight team. The manager/coach is also a graphic artist and has helped me with some graphics and other advertising activities. I get free tickets to fights for me and my friends but the marketing has been slow.

It’s a nice thing to do for the community but DO NOT expect a financial return on your investment. It’s giving back and there is a lot to be said for the benefits of being kind.

Adult leagues - near pointless.

Kids leagues - it helps out the community and you will get more exposure.

A lot of these replies are only factoring in a direct return on investment. What you get with sponsorships, is a thing called presence which reinforces your other marketing. The larger the city though, the larger the sponsorships need to be to be effective. Don’t write them off altogether. Putting your ads on ball field walls, Relay for Life t-shirts, fundraiser giveaways, football programs, the Sheriff’s association calendar, etc… help you to increase your presence in the community and that is valuable. I have had people tell me they see my company name everywhere but can’t remember where, lol.

isn’t it like a billboard and you purchase it more for branding than a call too action?
