So I bought a new piece of Marketing Equipment

So I got a drone. Now when I justified this business write off to my wife I got the eye roll. But seriously… not only is this the coolest thing I have spent money on in years… I think it will be a game changer for my marketing in 2017. The video shot of us Waterfed Poling, Pressure Washing, Roof Cleaning… We are going after homeowner associations in a big way and I see this as a huge marketing took to show how our company rolls. And no i didnt spend
hundreds or thousands of dollars… This model is a cheap Chinese version of the $1500 phantom drone… I got it for $87.99 with free shipping. I may buy another one for the hell of it.

Let us know how it holds up. I’ve been wanting to get one for “marketing” as well. Just can’t justify $400+, but $87.99 oh yeah! Since this is something that WCR doesn’t sell can you provide a link for it?

Drones are fun - but that one has no GPS or gimbal, so you’ll struggle to get video steady enough to use for professional videos. Great way to get started though before you splash out on something more suitable.

The cheap camera they provide is actually not that bad. But it also fits a go pro. The GPS isnt that big of a deal to me cause I am not traveling in a huge area when going around a house. The biggest issue I have had is when i gets it really high… like 200-300ft the wind can grab it and drift it 100 yards if you are not careful. But if you are smart with it, you can avoid stupid mistakes that may break or lose your drone. Plus its $87… if it breaks, I will just order another one.

GPS gives you the position hold functions for a steady shot - and the camera is mounted directly to the drone without image stabilization - so even gopro footage won’t look great until you get really good at flying it and manoeuvring slowly & gently. Still - better to learn with a cheap one than go straight to a $1000 machine & crash it the first day!

PS - this is my drone,… I spend a couple of months designing & building it & then got bored & haven’t flown it in about a year. 3D printed parts, Octo configuration so it’ll keep flying even if a couple of motors fail, full GPS & 2 cameras,… a gopro underneath & a small FPV camera on top. It weighs about 7lbs with batteries & has enough lift to carry a 6 pack
