There’s a ton of options when you have the finances to do take the risk. Can you make as much doing WC as you make now and work the same amount?
Owning a business can be tough, and doing something like this is really a different than a corporate job.
Can you manage people, do you want to? Managing a crew or two is different than showing up for just yourself.
How good are you with managing money? If you make $10k over the next 8 weeks can it sustain you for the 8 weeks after that if you don’t make any sales?
Do you have enough in savings to carry your bills for the next 3 months?
I had a karate student that wanted to open a dojo. Every Summer he would ask me what he needed to do to open. What it would cost. I said 6 months of bills, including your salary in savings. then pay for everything in cash so you are debt free. 4 years later, no dojo.
One day he got his realtors license and within 6 months was debt free (no car note or student loans or credit card debt). He busted his ass and 1 year later had his 6 months of bills. 2 years after that it’s 2017, still no dojo. However, he has been to Greece, Puerto Rico and Costa Rica. He loves being a realtor and has time to train in Karate, Muay Thai and BJJ. His new goal: Open a dojo in Japan so he can train those less fortunate, but only after he net worth is 5 million. He’s a tenth of the way there.
The point is to go in with a goal in mind not as an escape.
We just paid our taxes and are basically broke.
Taxes are painful, work with a good tax preparer who knows small businesses.
She doesn’t have a license…yet…
It is easy enough to get a drivers license, what is the hold up?

- Make flyers off of your home printer if you can.
- Borrow a little cash from family with a defined plan to pay them back.
- What little you may need to start cleaning windows and printing flyers you can
pay back after one or two residential jobs. (Be confident - say what you do - do
what you say.)
- Sell stuff on Craigslist - find FREE things on Craigslist and sell them on
Craigslist.
- Wash windshields for $1.00 each at the shopping center parking lot or other
place that will allow you. (Explain your situation and ask permission.)
- Be creative and you will rise to the top soon. Do not allow negativity.

Learn to control your money, get out there on the weekends and after work hours and get started. Relearn the trade. have your wife make the phone calls (use a script). have her speak of the team at your company and promote skills and advantages of a team of folks rather than DIY.
what i learned when starting off is you NEED to start a tumble effect to bring in new work. no stone must be left unturned . that means explore every avenue to bring in new work so you cause an avalanche effect [of new work arriving]
if you dont,things will stall and all of a sudden youre sitting at home ,no works coming in,no calls and youre gazing at the job ads in the newspaper. Family members then start criticizing about your business lack of success -iv been there and they are your worst enemies feeding off your failure.
But if you can cause an avalanche AND a sh/tstorm atmosphere in your household [get them doling out flyers ,and not just a 1 time effort, week in week out ] itll bring success
i drove my own family mad by printing my own flyers ,at all hours, burned out several machines producing 1000s . i took satisfaction that the noise kept them awake when trying to sleep. theres a model of Epson printer that when you hit the print button it makes an awful belch type noise,i used to hop out of bed and hit that button and felt great about it all
