Owner isn't in

Most of my rounds cash on the spot. If the owner isn’t in to collect the money what is the appropriate amount of time to go back to collect without looking desperate?

Ask when he’ll be in and either come back that day or give him a call and see when you can meet him

Here’s the time and day I’ll be servicing your windows sir. Please have check or money ready on service date. Thanks for understanding.

Chasing money costs time and money.

Instead of making another trip why not just collect next time?

My first thought was I’ll catch it next month, but this lady is a really good customer. She has two large windows that takes 15 min to do inside and out, i charge her $20 and she tips me $20 bucks. I don’t think she’ll double that if i let it go but like i said i don’t want to appear desperate. Thanks for the replies

Next visit; do you mind if I put a credit card on file?

Im with Jared colllect it next time. Now if the next time comes , an he isn’t there , then you have to get a hold of him via phone, An it’s " Hey this is Mike your window cleaner I missed you last month for payment I did service again this month , An we weren’t able to get payment again what’s a good time to get you, or can you please leave payment at your store so I can pick it up".

I would also leave an invoice with who ever is there. Tell them the could mail it if they want.

Are they wanting to pay this way? I give our customers 3 options. Cash upon completion , they have to be there or an employee to pay upon completion. Check net 30, I’ll service the store 1, 2 times per month for example then they mail a check. You’ll need a software to keep track of this I use hcp/qb. Credit card , again I service the store through out the month send the invoice and the pay online through hcp at the end of the month.

Chasing after my money is a deal breaker for me. TIME IS MONEY. They can send a check or set the payment aside for the next time I clean the window. I’m not swinging back for $30.

PS
If they wanted to tac on $10 or $20 extra to cover the expense of swinging back to get my money I’d be OK with that. JK

Sounds great! Could you elaborate please.

Thanks. I went on YouTube and they have video tutorials to watch. Good stuff. Glad that Luke brought it up.

A $20 tip is sweet, but not part of your business plan. Two ways to go about it; Call and ask whether she wants to pay you on your next visit, or you stop by at the end of the day after your other rounds and collect.

Everything worked out there’s a couple of days each week that she doesn’t work. After discussing payment options with her she decided to have a employee pay me from their cash register if she’s not in. Thanks for the advice
