New vehicle, here we go

Been working out of the same ford ranger since I started my business. It’s been a long time coming…

Just had the entire inside line-x’d. I actually used to work at line-X years ago, so I prepped a lot of it myself as the little things you don’t think about get hit. Bolt threads, hole clearances, plastic thresholds, plugs, etc.

Shelving gets put in on Monday, and then I may be laying down a subfloor, for screen table storage, and to have something to lag into for hose reels, DI tank mount (will be welding something up for this later), etc.

First van, looking forward to all the extra storage room. As mentioned, will be welding up frame for DI tank, pressure washer, etc.

…Nice looking van. Post pics when it’s done. I moved out of 1990 Dakota last year to a Chevy Astro and just put in a 12" deep floor drawer and ditched a half dozen milk crates/buckets.

Looks awesome man, how much was it to line the interior?

Van looks good. Line-X good idea.

Thanks - Line-x ran $1450, fair price. Was quoted locally by bullet liner, which ironically is the same guy that started line-x, and they wanted $2200. Bloated, for sure. But I have to say, I unfortunately had to wait there as it was out of town, and it took them all day to finish. There is a lot more prep than people think. And I wanted the entire thing shot, not just the floor.

I’ve heard a lot of issues with rust, and my buddy who owns a vinyl wrap business has seen a ton of them get completely rusted out, and bad. Not worth the headache of going cheap.

Looks good ! Are those rims stock, or did you upgrade . Those are nice I’m getting envious :+1:. I went half way up with my rhino liner maybe I’ll do the rest this winter now that I see yours. Keep the pictures coming I want to see what else you get going. How are you planning on mounting your reels in there? I sent you those measurements . How many shelving units are you planning on putting in there?

Question. You said your buddy has seen a lot of vinyl wraps get rusted out. Wraps that are on the outside of the van get rusted??
Also being that I only went half way. They still can do the other half with no issues right ? I know stupid question , but you got me reeling hear now with the whole rust thing. I should of just did the whole thing the first time.

I think its a great idea to line-x the interior, not only for rust proofing but for sound deadening. Nice job.

I didn’t buy the base model so it has a few extras, I guess from your response rims are one of them.

As of right now, I have a plan to build a subfloor with clearance underneath to store my screen table and possibly screen frame or whatever. I also plan on using this floor to affix anything I need to mount - hose reels, DI tank mount, etc.

Sorry, I may have worded it a bit odd - I was on my phone at the time. What I meant was my buddy who owns a wrap shop, and turns a lot of these cargo vans, said he has seen a ton of these vans that are rusted out on the INSIDE. Not the wrap. There was a carpet cleaner recently who came in, and before he would even wrap it he really needs to have the sheet metal replaced - IT WAS THAT RUSTED OUT!

So, the peace of mind to spray the entire inside is worth it to me. Brand new van, and I plan on having this thing for years to come. Working with water, and in the hot summers will cause moisture as it will get humid in there I’m sure.

I just purchased my new vehicle and would like to know the shelving setup and how you came to that decision.

@rivet0r Oh man! that van looks like it’s going to be great. So many possibilities. Good luck with it!

Just a small update, shelves are in, and I installed the rack a few days ago. Waiting on some hose reels and some other things before I pulling plan out the rest of the layout. Went with 3 shelves as they were included as an incentive with the van, and we do offer quite a few services and can definitely use the room. I will layout the reels, PW, DI tank, etc when they are in hand so I have solid measurements!

Shoved some equipment in today, but have been holding off on working out of it until its fully setup. Had a few screen door installs today so its very easy to use the van.

Thanks Bruce! It’s about time I got into something with the room I need… I’m sure I’ll fill this too

Nick , I put up pics on the other thread you started that got lost Did you see them?
What are your plans for the reels Did you decide to drill three the floor ?

Oh man, still learning the new forum… tried to delete this because I forgot to make it a reply… read below instead!

Mike, I didn’t! I had a lot of notifications on the phone, but before I could check them WCR changed forums and the thread was lost. I think I decided I’m going to lay down one layer of 3/4 ply as I think it will be enough. Going to do a bolt through the ply into some a few unistrut rails, this way I can easily adjust whatever I’m mounting, and it will be a lot more secure without needing 2 layers of ply - without the added weight! Ply is not light

It just gives me a lot more options and can even fine tune, or add to it. From there I would weld up a frame for the PW to mount to, and mount that directly into the unistrut with some spring nuts. I will most likely do the same for my DI tank.

Again, I keep thinking about it rather than doing it because I don’t have all my hose reels so I can really map it out with real measurements.

Them racks look nice

Here is how I did it.
