How do you learn?

How do you mean ?Deep Learning" playlist featuring slower, more thoroughly explained videos. The possibilities are endless and the more ways you teach the same things, the more people will benefit. Example please.
.

Tough to explain without getting super wordy. This video, however, is a great example of taking the basic act of squeegeeing that we all take for granted and really breaking it down. When i first watched this video i was like, ā€œYes finally! THIS is what Iā€™ve been wishing for!ā€

If i made a how to fan video, I would, in addition to doing everything as slowly as possible (at several different speeds, actually), demonstrate every nuance: ā€œthis is what we mean by leading edge. Notice what happens when the leading edge is forward. Now hereā€™s what happens when itā€™s not. Now see how that applies whether youā€™re squeegeeing side to side or up and down. ā€¦ Notice the angle to the glass of the rubber. Different handles are angled differently so you need to change the angle at which you hold it so the rubber touches the glass at this angle. Look at what happens if i use a shallower angle. Now see when i use a steeper one. ā€¦ Notice when Iā€™m bringing the squeegee up how it leaves a line. Thatā€™s because the tip didnā€™t get dry. Now look at this path. See how the tip is traveling in a dry spot? Youā€™re basically using the glass as a rag to dry your squeegee. See now how thereā€™s no line?ā€ Etc etc etc

Those were prolly already too many examples, but hopefully that answers your question. For some people that may be overkill. But i think once you have experience you take a lot for granted. A new person has to figure it all out. Many times they donā€™t even know what it is they donā€™t know. So, to me, a more thorough explanation with every subtly and nuance is vital. Thereā€™s already a million videos that explain how to fan in 45 seconds. Once youā€™ve watched one you may as well skip the rest.

Itā€™s like how a coach doesnā€™t just in 20 seconds show you how to kick a soccer ball. He helps you see the subtly of the movement, why you donā€™t use your toes head on, that your knee needs to be over the ball for maximum power, even where you look and point your arms!

Another masterful example:

Ok thatā€™s it from me. Hope that helps clarify what i mean.

Also donā€™t know about dirty little videos. LOL
But have explained very basic of using manly swivel type squeegees.
When learning a technique with any squeegee / scrubber found that you get the basic technique down first.
Take care to get it right if it seems a bit awkward you can add your own certain style to it.
Make easier for yourself.
Speed will come in due time
As you probably noticed that we use modified DIY squeegees based on Wagtail squeegee.
Or even some Wagtail squeegees that have been modified so to be able to use easily.

Do you mean incomplete information of what ?

Yes. Thatā€™s just a guess.

Luke i also think some ā€œreal lifeā€ training vids would be nice. Too many videos are cleaning already clean windows. I would like to see some struggle. Otherwise new ppl can get the wrong idea and think it should always be fast and easy.

good point, I never see videos mention one of the simplest things that always overlooked which is once you have completed a window a very quick visual scan of the window. just to take a look as we moved to our next window we always look back on the one we just completed because angle show more than what you can see straight on at times.

Sometimes even on our reoccurring cleanings we have to scrub more in certain areas it is very very common. I never see videos of people actually applying much pressure or scrubbing the glass to clean it itā€™s always a quick once-over with the applicator and squeegee.

A big part in squeegeeing the window is a good initial scrubbing, one canā€™t do its job without the other

I donā€™t think a lot of people know they can bend and heat/shape pvc.
I knew I could, have done it in the past, but I learned some things from your videos.
Making pcv bows, potato guns, etcā€¦ looks to be pretty popular on youtube.

He_Man can you do a video on pole-fanning with long Sorbo channel and explain how the tip of the rubber doesnā€™t fold under on the turns? Iā€™m thinking maybe Iā€™m not going deep enough to make the turn; rubber too hard or soft; blade angle or pressure wrong. I can hand-fan a 24" Sorbo, but not having consistant results pole-fanning.

Done a few vids removing hard water stains off windows.
Here we are putting pressure on the glass.
Is this what you mean.
PS: At the end of video click playlist for more videos relating to this.

So found having scrubbing pad on the squeegee channel as in the video.
It actually keeps the squeegee rubber wet when squeegeeing on a pole.
Take note that the scrubbing sleeve is on the under side of the squeegee channel not over the top.
Here two videos showing this.

Thanks He_Man,
I need to modify one of my squeegee and give this a try.

Hey HE_MAN,
What kind of rubber are you using hard or soft?

lol, My first window cleaning job was french panes. Before I even solicited any service. I was being subbed to mow lawns and a client asked if we would clean their windows.

I said yeah, bid it, got the job. Came back with dollar tree squeegees and cut the channel to the french pane size.

I under bid it and only made $25 per man hour. But we had other jobs and did a $380 day. Iā€™ve been hooked since.
