Four Story Insurance

I am with the Joseph D. Walters insurance company for my liability insurance.
Great company, but they only cover up to three stories for window cleaning.

Does anyone have information on getting a rider, or something, to be insured for work above three stories?

Thanks!

Yeah, I only got one call for bidding a 4 story inn this year. Had to pass.

Generally up to 3 stories is the coverage. Anything over that they consider “High Rise.” Price gets pretty HIGH too. I don’t know how water fed pole work is charged with insurance, but there are set ups for 4 and 5 story WFP.

I got one call for a 5 story condo in 5 years. Passed as well.

I found a high rise insurance that will cover any amount of floors. I need it because of the condo boom/bubble that’s growing up right around me. Almost all of my condo accounts are 3.5 stories and higher.

I believe I paid $1,300 for a 2 year insurance.

If it’s a one time thing I’d suggest calling Joe Walters and explaining the situation and the procedures you are using. They told me their biggest concern is chemical overspray hitting adjacent cars. Depending on what you are doing, there may be a 0% chance of that happening so they might make an exception and cover you for that one job, remember they want your business and just don’t want unnecessary exposure to risks.

My agent is an Independent Insurance Agent. He got my standard 3 stories and below with an addendum that will negotiate a price for individual jobs 4 and up. It has historically been a price between 3 and 6 percent of the job. Right now we have 1 building that is 6 stories (about 75’), where we clean exterior of building (PC and WC). We have several 4 to 5 stories, most are cleaned with WFP now since we cleaned them up. Our Agent and the Insurance Company really work with us. We clean their Corporate Headquarters so they know how anal I am about safety, security and following the Codes and Statutes.

Shop around for an Agent who will work with you, price doesn’t matter as much as quality. Developing the relationship is key.

I got a cheaper quote by almost 600 per year from another company. When I asked the agent if I could call at 3 am, he said I could call an 800 number…No Thanks.

I have insurance for WC up to 4 stories plus Christmas light installation for about $40/month. It is with Wawanesa but i am in Canada so it might be much different here.
