I’m a huge little giant fan. One of the highest quality products i have ever purchased. I would think it’s German lol. So solid and very functional. Was a clutz with it at first, but after becoming proficient with it…there’s something to be said for that feeling of literally being Optimus Prime on a job. To brag, i work(ed) that thing like nobody’s business.
That said, since forcing myself to learn and get comfortable with the sectional, well, i haven’t used the LG since. In fact, recently took it off the truck. Even my extension I’ve barely needed and only cause i wasn’t carrying my fourth section. As I’ve been using my sectional I’m consistently horrified at how it would have been to use the LG or the extension in the same situation. You absolutely can’t beat the sectional for inside work, which in my area is nearly every home. You can’t beat the sectional for low but still out of reach first story work. Never again will i lug that 44lb monster through the shrubs instead of my 9lb sectional. Oh and you can’t beat the sectional on any second story window. Fewer ladder sets and no need for an awkward standoff.
The sectional has been worth every penny paid and every minute spent learning it (and I’m not even good at it yet!). And this is coming from someone who was a huge LG fan (and still thinks it’s a nice ladder) and who also hated sectional ladders with a passion. Was pretty sure i was just gonna sell it. So glad i didn’t and powered through. But to each their own.
I’ll reiterate: sectionals are a useful tool. They have a purpose. Just like wagtails. They’re not my main tools, but I do think every window cleaner should have them available for use. And yes, they should learn how to use them.
A wagtail can save me a ton of time on certain windows. It sucks for others.
A sectional can be a Good Thing on certain windows. It sucks for others.
I had one house where a sectional wouldn’t work. Window was up about 8 feet, 1 section would have been too short, 2 sections would have hit the ceiling. Couldn’t angle it to get to the window due to kitchen cabinets.
As a general rule you don’t need one foot increments unless you are trying to set up the ladder under the window like we do with extension ladders. So I think it’s a safe assumption on my part. I see guys setting their sectionals up under the window all the time on YouTube. Crazy.
People try to use a sectional the same way they were using their extension ladder. The sectional ladder isn’t an extension ladder so it doesn’t work out well at all. Two different animals. Different technique required.
Thanks bro, I haven’t even see that. Gee! Scary. But picture right in front of Window 101 store. Hm. I kinda miss idea of 4’. I guess my mind is set to extensions for years lol
