Anyone try the Housecall App

I signed up for the free account, and I’ve been playing around with it today, I like it cause it takes away a lot of the piecing different software and apps together to get things done. I will likely stick to this over TCF , which is what I used before. I would like to be able to do the estimates based on per piece, as well, Although I have toyed with the Idea of going to flat rate pricing all together.

Maybe for storefronts that are done weekly/biweekly, but invoiced on a monthly basis?

Personally, I’ve found the workflow to be incredibly clunky when trying to use HCP for storefronts. It was a real pain today. What I’d like to see is an option to change the workflow in the mobile app when scheduling a job “in the past”. Make it trigger a more streamlined flow that skips right to the job screen with an automatic dialogue for “Mark Complete?”, and then skip to the Payment flow. Way too much clicking/tapping around the way it’s currently setup.

  • Or better yet, have an option/button to skip over the whole scheduling dialogue, and just say, “job done now”- then go straight to the payment options.

I would really, really, really like to see an option to choose which notifications get sent. I don’t want to inundate customers with “Job scheduled”, “Job complete”, and then finally an invoice/receipt (especially for an on-the-spot, “scheduled in the past” situation like storefronts). And what’s up with not sending a receipt if notifcations are turned off?? A receipt isn’t a “notification”, imo. It’s an important part of the customer’s records.

I’m hanging in there because I do find certain aspects appealing, and I got grandfathered in at a really good rate.

Had same issue make a tag “no-followup” then in email reminders can make a rule with the tag.

But let’s keep on track here fix the estimates

The storefront/monthly invoice thing makes sense, Alex. Thanks.
I just wasn’t quite grasping it.

For me, everything in the ‘past tense’ is a pain.
There are jobs that I do on the spot (its actually my goal for the year, more of THOSE) that I don’t submit until after they are done.

In turn, the notifications scare the hell out of me.
Because as I’m working to change things.
(example: I did a job Thurs and for some reason it’s having a tough time grasping that I didn’t complete the job TODAY.)

So, in the meantime, customers would get texts saying…
“we’re coming friday”
“no, wait, were coming on thursday again”
“Back to friday”

etc…

Could you walk me through this? I can’t seem to figure it out

I like that you have a solution, now could you explain what that means.

And also, I respect your selfishness to focus on the problem that affects you.
(I’m smiling and laughing as I type this, in case you don’t ‘get’ my style of compliment)

If we’re talking about the same thing
Web portal
Go to marketing
Emails
Click rules
Towards bottom see a box send email unless this tag (or something) type your phrase.

With customers you don’t want follow up add that to thier tags

I was asking about this today on there instant chat
I asked for a button when closing our job that would be a yes/no for follow up.

This is what they have for now

So we have to create a new campaign? This doesn’t seem like it would stop the app from sending the “job scheduled” and “job complete” notifications. It just won’t send a reminder email the day before the job… Do I understand this correctly?

@rolandal @HouseCallPro, here’s what we really need:

a feature request forum. A central location where we can see all of the requested features, the number of people that have voted for them, and the approximate status of that feature’s development. I think that would put a lot of users at ease. maybe.

You can turn those notifications off

Details screen on web portal

But no new email or postcard campaign it will just change from everyone to everyone except those with a certain tag

right. but turning off notifications means the customer won’t get a receipt…

tracking multiple trips to the same job job. especially useful for when you do jobs for the same client

for instance, today we started a ccu in birmingham. got about half the inside done. we’ll have to go back next week to finish. that’s another visit. and then again in another week or two to do the outside. more visits. same job, same customer. different visits. we also do jobs at different locations for the same customer that are multi-day.

hcp has no way to track jobs that are protracted over multiple, non-concurrent days.

it’s frustrating having all these holes in the workflow. but i just try to remember how quickly real, useful features are being rolled out. i mean, it’s like almost every week something cool is getting added, tweaked or fixed. the speedy development track is refreshing- especially compared to the snail’s pace way some of the competition is rolling out updates.

Yeah there’s really no perfect solution
like Caleb saying they seem to work things out that works for broad spectrum of businesses.

I was thinking just keep the job open but I see what you’re saying it’s more for a scheduling thing if it’s a multi-day job it won’t show up on all those days on the calendar

right and if you just keep moving the job to the next scheduled date you lose track of the times and dates of previous visits. i think my plan to just schedule visits as new jobs at same location with a custom tag will work for now.

There is a customer history. But tag a date that would work

problem with relying on customer history is that if you have multiple jobs at different locations for the same customer going on at the same time (for instance, you do all ccu’s for a builder and they may have five projects wrapping on the same week…or you do work for a property manager and have multi-day visits scheduled at multiple properties ) the list can get pretty muddy.

Ahh…
I totally get ya, now.

I’m able to keep separate portions of large jobs with my excel sheet.
And I don’t put an amount until the day the job is completed.

What screws me up is, say I start on the Jan 27, but don’t finish until Feb 3rd.

  • as of right now it would count as Feb income.

(portion it, in those cases.)

Maybe that’s along the lines of our out, for the time being.
Schedule, track, etc in portions.

Yeah, 5 addresses for one name.
I tried that with my own name, as a test…

It becomes an “either/or” situation, you have to commit to one single place.
unless you differentiate the cust name somehow J 350 Maple- J 450 Elm), and that kind of sucks
