Anyone try the Housecall App

HouseCall

Just read an article on it, seems promising. Not available in my area.

I never heard of them before this, but absolutely detest ā€œfixed price serviceā€

Hey guys - Iā€™m one of the founders of HouseCall. You should check out HouseCall Pro which is the app and web portal window cleaners can use to run their entire business. It allows you to schedule, invoice, and process credit cards at a flat rate of 1.99% across all cards. Happy to answer any questions, my cell is 858-365-0850. Itā€™s absolutely free for individuals and small companies as well. Check it out at Home Services Business Software - Housecall Pro

Iā€™ll try anything twice. Except there is no info in your mobile site as to how it works. Iā€™ll download and check it out.

Not available in my area. Huh. Sucky for me.

I read a little bit about it. Sounds promising. I signedup fora trial, the service isnā€™t available in my area yet. What I donā€™t like is having to list a fixed price for window cleanings. There are so many variables with windows, from size to French panes, screens, stormsā€¦ the last is long. FBUser, can you tell me if there is a way to list the services without being committed to a defined price? Currently, I have had a lot of success using thumbtack.com and I give a ā€œball parkā€ quote based on the info from the consumer. And they know from my message to then it may vary based on their free on site estimate. I really like the idea being host call, but I would like to see it allow more room for variations in price

I do like the 1.99% for all cards. Iā€™m paying 2.75% with square

Are you considering adding exterior house washes or deck cleaning to the services? Also, coming to Iowa soon?

Nice work on the app. It looks pretty cool.

Didnā€™t realize this thread became so active!

HouseCall Pro is available nationwide - itā€™s the app that service professionals like yourself use to help run your business. It allows you to do scheduling, invoicing, payment (1.99% FLAT CC for scan/keyed), dispatching, and CRM. In it, you can optionally turn yourself on/available to be booked through the HouseCall app by your existing clients, or new clients.

HouseCall is the app that homeowners use, think of it as a web booking widget, but much more sophisticated. You can list any price youā€™d like given the parameters of the job, just read the description carefully and price accordingly. Happy to answer any questions via phone: 858-365-0850.

For more information check out: Home Services Business Software - Housecall Pro

PressurePoint: You can use it in Iowa, you would most likely be the 1st deck washer. If youā€™d like to help me build some basic jobs for that category, let me know via email: [email protected].

ShineBright: Itā€™s available nationwide. The reason you donā€™t see anyone in your category in the HouseCall app (which is the app consumers/homeowners & your clients can use to book you) is because we have noone in your radius/vicinity in that category yet. All you have to do is download the ā€œHouseCall Proā€ app, or sign up on the web portal and activate yourself!

Chris: Thanks, weā€™ve been live in San Diego for the past 13 months, and just expanded nationally 4 weeks ago after proving out our home market. Weā€™ve got around 400 pros using it in SD to run their business (HouseCall Pro).

So are you saying that you can tell the potential customer that the price is not fixed and that it may change based on the actual scope of work which is only determined on site? Or, do you need to tell them a price and that is what you must charge? Please be clear on this point.

Roland, (Iā€™m assuming thatā€™s who the FBUser is?) two things:

1: there is nothing listed anywhere that I can see for gutter cleaning or gutter protection. Is it there and Iā€™m just missing it? If not, please add it with by-the-foot pricing.

2: please get a user name here so we know when we are talking/listening to you. FBUser can be anyone.

Thank you!

Hey Guys,

Iā€™m one of the two original window cleaning companies set up on Housecall here in San Diego. So far itā€™s been a great resource for me without any out of pocket cost.

I just wanted to let everybody that is concerned about fixed pricing or specific ā€œcategoriesā€ know that as soon as your signed up you have the ability to totally customize your prices and theyā€™re super willing to add more categories for services you might offer.

Personally, because most of my customers have large custom homes I generally use a ā€œcustom quoteā€ price. Meaning when someone contacts me through the app I just give them a price range and let them know we will set the exact price once I am on site, depending on how many windows/how dirty/ etc. (This is how I handle all leads from any source).

Just wanted to share my experience so far. Happy to answer anybodyā€™s questions!

Kyle

I havenā€™t used thumbtack but it sounds super similar to how iā€™m using housecall.
The best part of the credit card processing is thereā€™s no stupid plug in swiper to hassle with (I used square for two years). the housecall app uses your phones camera to scan the front/back of the card.

I personally think theyā€™re going to have to for national service. It just so happens that very few people here in san diego ā€œneedā€ or think they need these services. I offer them through my business and have only done a few in four years.

Hi Kyle, thanks for answering all the questions. Personal observation about scanning vs. swiping cards: as a consumer, Iā€™d much rather see my card processed through a swiper than someone taking ā€œpicturesā€ of my card. I honestly donā€™t know if I would even let someone process my card that way. From a business standpoint: Iā€™ve never had trouble with my Square dongle. Even after itā€™s gone through the wash a couple times. Even if it takes a couple of attempts to get a good swipe with it, I think it would still be just as fast as snapping two pictures.

Tl;dr: Iā€™m hesitant to try this out until they implement a ā€˜realā€™ card processing solution.

Alex, gopayment allows you to take a picture of the card. If I cant get it to swipe or if I dont have my swiper on hand I use the picture option. Never had a customer say a word about it
