About the Skylotec Sirius Descender

The Skylotec Sirius Descender is a compact, durable abseiling device built for industrial and rescue applications, made of 100% metal with an auto-lock system and an intuitive rope path designed to prevent twisting and wear. It has an extremely compact design for better handling and long-lasting durability, fitting comfortably in your hand while providing controls that are simple and fast to operate under pressure.

Safety and usability are at the core of its design. Auto-lock and anti-panic functions enable controlled rappelling and reduce the risk of operator error, while its self-locking lever has a particularly small range of motion, allowing users to work quickly and precisely.

Built to perform under demanding conditions, the Sirius Descender is engineered for continuous use under the harshest conditions, which is why it's made entirely of metal with no vulnerable plastic parts. It supports a maximum load of 633 lbs (282 kg)for two persons and 311 lbs(141 kg) for one, with a max abseiling height of 623 ft and abseil speed of 4.5 mph (6.6 ft/s). It is easy to attach to a rope and is compatible with rope diameters from 9.00 mm to 12.50 mm. Rated for use between –22° (–30°C) and 140° (60°C) and backed by a 30-year maximum lifetime, the SIRIUS meets ANSI/ASSP Z359.9-2021, EN 341:2011/2A, EN 12841:2024/C, EN 15151-1:2012, and NFPA 2500:2022 standards
