About the Petzl ASAP LOCK

The ASAP LOCK is a mobile fall arrester designed for rope access work, providing a drop-resistant system with a built-in LOCK function. During normal use, it trails freely along the rope as the user moves, without needing any manual operation. If a fall or uncontrolled descent exceeding two meters per second occurs, the device automatically blocks the rope and stops the fall. Its connection arm keeps the system drop-resistant when passing intermediate anchors, and safety catches make installing and removing the device on the rope straightforward.

It's compatible with ropes 10 to 13 mm (0.39 to 0.51 in) in diameter and features a toothed wheel that works reliably even on frozen or muddy ropes. The integrated LOCK function lets users immobilize the device to reduce potential fall distance, and it can serve as either a back-up belay device in a rope access system or a primary belay device in a fall-arrest system. It must be paired with an ASAP'SORBER AXESS or ASAP'SORBER 20/40 energy absorber for use, and in rescue scenarios specifically, it requires the ASAP'SORBER AXESS. The device weighs 335 g (0.75 lbs) and is constructed from aluminum, stainless steel, and nylon.
