Work Belt Setup (for the newbies)

Ya I know a few guys state side to that only use 10" and 8" for residential.

10" out here would be a joke - seriously, I could see production falling drastically

What size channel do you prefer.

I have found that a 12" works great around here, I think a 10" may work just as good.

Most resi glass around here have large panes, I use my 18 and 14 constantly. 10/6 mainly for entry windows or bathrooms.

Panes seem quite smaller overseas.

Most homes have smaller window panes around here, except for lake front homes which have larger pane but for those homes I will just change out the channel sizes.

Yes. LOOOVE my paint brushes!

Especially on construction cleanup jobs.
I’ll brush down a whole window (glass, fram, sill, track) before I even think about adding water.

What he said was dead on “why make mud when you can brush the dust away”
So much so, I went through a number of pages to “like” the post, before I thought to go to the beginning.

  • I figured it was a recent post, and went backwards.
    I’m an idiot, I know.

im definately gonna give it a try on those home sills…thx

Did you always use your bucket in the center, or did you make the switch in the customization?

I don’t have a problem with it, I would hate it myself, but I absolutely have no problem with it.
Chairwork is all about feeling comfortable and secure, we all have our quirks.
(I was always an anal asshole about how close I wanted to be… tape lines for exactly how far out I want to be)

But that’s rolling rig work, I’m not supposed to talk about that here.
Oops. :o

You guys are nuts , I’m very comfortable sayin that . The only chair I need is the one were I’m sitting in watching you screw balls go up an down

Thanks for sharing Chad.

I will be trying out The Liquidator when its available. I will see if it makes the cut to add to the workbelt set up.

Same here. I plan on only buying a 14" (size I use the majority of the time). If all goes well, I will buy the other sizes I use. All the reviews have been positive. We shall see

Chairwork is safer than ladderwork, in general.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m doing my best to stay as far away from it as possible… as an owner.
But it was where I spent the first 10-15 years of my career, so I can’t fully knock it.

Incidentally, I went side to side, but (common theme of the night) OSHA has pretty much put the kibosh on THAT.

  • so, it’s just not practical anymore. I’ll stick with houses from now on.

My belt setup is pretty much the same as last year. My main squeegees are my 18" and a 12" on a wagtail handle. I was switching out handles on the 12, but the wagtail is so handy that I just keep it on permanently as my second squeegee. I’ve added a couple of 18" “gear ties” to my towel bag because those can be handy for holding back curtains, holding up blinds, and holding out signs.

The only thing that makes me sad is that Home Depot stopped selling the little mini utility pouches. You have to order them online now, but for $6 it’s really handy and holds my brush, can opener and white scrubby.

I’ve spent a couple of months with the 24" slayer, but I can’t get it to where I don’t have to detail. The time I save with 24" over 18" I end up making up with detailing. So unless I have a bunch of windows to do, I just stick with the 18".

Oh, I did add a hip clip and microfiber towel. Those microfibers can hold a ton of water for moping up inside storefronts and the hip clips keeps it from wetting my dry towels. It’s a VERY handy addition and has saved me from using a bunch of towels.

Harbor Freight sells chip brushes like 36 of them for $11. I have a 2" brush on me at all times because our sills get so much dust that you can seriously mess up some stucco with mud. I also use the brush for tracks and if you flip it over you can use the handle to dig out big dirt clods from the tracks down here.

On route work, I usually don’t bother brushing because my sill squeegee will pull off the dirt and water at the same time. It’s just quicker and on storefronts I don’t have to worry about the mud issue. But then again, it depends on how much dirt is on the sill.

Jared thanks for sharing the information and the pic.

yeah, easier to drop the wet-bar from side to side while on a swing.

off kilter bucket makes my back hurt,

BTW… freeways full if folks on their phones scare me… ropes don’t…

Not bad for a newb if I don’t say so myself lol
