Window Cleaning Store Front

My two favorite Steve O videos. The fancy impress everybody who’s watching video and the money maker video. Same storefront windows … different income levels.

The Fancy Smancy Way

The Money Maker Way

Steve-O seems to have mastery of all the different squeegee techniques. Straight pulls with great speed, fans like butter, no wasted movements in transition…money.

Ok…I see " Experienced " Window Cleaners doing this a lot. If you are going to post a video like this it will and should be subject to scrutiny. I will be brief and I am only going to critique one thing ( maybe two ).

You do not have to bend at the waist every time you end your straight pull. Secondly, why is your strip washer on your right side if you squeegee right handed ? Why do you strip wash with your right hand ? Keep your washer in your left hand while washing with right. I mistakenly did this for my first few years also. Once you learn this technique you will look back and wonder why you didn’t utilize both hands simultaneously.

Video at 15:52 minutes ( the door ). Again use your left hand to hold S/W and catch the water while you squeegee. When you lift ( at door handle) to do the bottom half of the door you throw water on the floor. Start at the top move downward washing and squeegeeing - go low one time - down and back up…done ! The technique I am describing cuts your time in half ( at least ) and focuses on the importance of symmetry and ergonomics when you are in a profession like ours that has many repetitive motions.

How long have you been cleaning and is this how you were taught ? Just Curious.

Thank you bud!

Then please make a vid and shows us all how it’s done!! I’m looking forward to it!

Thanks WDW your over critique of the vid doesn’t make a whole lot of sense, but oh well! Please make some vids showing us how it’s done! I’m looking forward to it!

Not how it works lol. Too busy…cant give away trade secrets…dont have time etc. I’ve been down that route , just seems to piss them off when you ask to See what they can do. Rest assured the techniques are flawless , if they graced us with a video it would blow your small and futile mind Steve.

What is unclear about my post Rich ? It was brief but pretty detailed.

Are you WCW?

K now that I have time Im going to address your message. If the windows are low enough you will have to bend at your waist when you end your straight pull, I’m 6’ 2"! I understand your statement about keeping your mop in the left and squeegee in your right, but when im cleaning a door i make sure to give it a good scrub with my dominant hand, right. When ever im doing rows of windows that are reachable by hand I have the washer in the left and squeegee in the right, check out my youtube channel SteveO window cleaning and you’ll see what im talking about and maybe youll learn a thing or two. Ive been cleaning for 7 years and am a professional in what i do, the only people to ever give negative criticism on my videos are people who arent willing to make vids themselves to help others, so please before you become a keyboard warrior, make some vids to help others with window cleaning and we will all see how great you are!! Cheers

Its obvious that if you watch this and dont understand how this technique works perfectly then your a newbie! Streaks come from using shitty rubbers, too much soap, not enough soap, letting the solution dry on the window before squeeging it off. Would i do this on a first clean or construction clean…no, but we clean these every month and this technique never leaves one streak. As I said before makes some vids and show us how its done then Mr. Friendly!

Exactly!!! Anyway were you just showing the top down technique, or is that the way you predominantly clean? I’m 5’6" an still wouldnt predominantly clean that way. Not there is anything wrong with it . Just like my back feeling good at the end of the day :smirk:
Guy is clueless with the streaks. If anything maybe a little left up top , but if the rubber is new An the windows weren’t dirty, An wet in properly (maintenance clean) I’m sure you don’t even have to rag the tops.

If I can fan a window I fan, But if I can do two easy straight pulls on a commercial window thats too tall for me then I do. I always fan homes, everything is situational. I really don’t fan on a pole much. Keep it simple is what i live by for window cleaning.
