Window Cleaning Insurance/ Liability insurance

I had the documents already made (based on stuff from around the internet) and then gave them to her to make sure they’d stick if I ever had to go to court.

This is what my insurance agent said about Care, Custody and Control.

“Care, Custody & Control would not apply to your type of business. It’s more for like a dry cleaner for when they have your clothes in their care, custody & control. You don’t have your clients items in your possession so this coverage would not apply to you”

Any comments?

Comments? Yes!!!

Your insurance agent is lying to you because no one but Joseph Walters offers care and custody for people in our line of work, and they don’t want to lose your money. (I say “money” instead of “business” because all that agent cares about is money…not you or your business.)

When I had my huge scratch incident last year the claim was denied (By Farm Bureau Insurance) because “the glass was in my care” so really, from an insurance standpoint, the customer’s items (windows) ARE in your care. There’s no way your present insurance agent doesn’t know that.

Tell that to the members on wcr that paid out of pocket for scratched glass.

There’s no worse feeling than being accused of scratching glass… Except finding out you aren’t covered for it.

Sent from my Motorola carrier pigeon. Please feed him before sending him back.

Thanks

Robert ~ As the representative on here for Joe Walters Insurance I am sorry to see this thread and so late with a reply. Although you did receive good advice about securing the best coverage you can find and to seek out the Care, Custody and Control coverage we cannot even offer you a quote being located in Canada. Hoping you are having luck finding what you need!

That is a pretty good insurance rate. I work in the Vancouver area & was wondering if you could give me your insurance broker’s contact info so I could check them out?

Thanks.

Another one looking for insurance.

Thanks to this forum I did contact Joseph Walters insurance. On a phone with Damon he told me he is going to send me few quotes. He asked residential, pressure washing, and how many stories house? I said yes, no, and no more than 3 stories.

He sends me only 1 quote for over $3k with some pressure washing pdf (even when I told him I don’t do pressure washing! wtf)

Then he said he’ll try to lower it and brake it into few payments.

Last email was he can’t lower it and also that California is expensive… blah blah

Thank you I’m not interested for this high price.I don’t like this kind of attitude either

I’m small one man company so I need something less expensive. Doing this part time with house cleaning, I don’t hire ppl, don’t do construction clean ups and I’m super careful (been doing this for years)

Guys, what else is out there? WHat do you small companies use?

450 a year? I keep getting quotes from 1300-2000. Just up to 3 stories.

I have just sent them email, to Liberty Mutual. Will see

Bump

California is expensive. Window cleaning and puppies have been shown to cause cancer in California.

So… I have 1 MM per occurrence liability policy through Shelter for $48 per month.
I specifically asked him about CC&C on the policy and he looked it up and said that would only apply if I removed somebody’s asset from their property and then damaged it.
For instance, if I removed a window, screen, chandelier, etc., to get it fixed and broke it off site, it wouldn’t be covered. Any damage I cause on a job site is covered.
Does that sound right??
@JaredAI

Probably not for 48 per month. Jdw is the only one I know of that specifically has it.

Who is the underwriter? They’re the ones who will pay out or not, not your agent. Most agents don’t really understand it. If he had to look it up, then you’re probably not covered like you think.

We think that if we scratch glass we’re covered… Up until we’re not.

See the scenarios here: Insurance Quote - #38 by JaredAI

The way it works is if you scratch a window you’re not covered. If you throw a ladder through a window, you’re covered. But it would be hard to cover your tracks by breaking every window in a house…

Thanks. I’ll look into it further. I thought by asking the broker I had performed enough due diligence.
Then when I read how much guys are paying, I questioned my coverage again.
I’ll check the underwriter. I asked for a cert and it only says Shelter. I’ll find out
