Why is it so expensive?!

Please tell me: Why is workers comp so expensive? Are there any good ways to bring the cost down? I am being quoted around $5k for 3 part time employees and $36,000 in payroll.

Because the Government, thats why.

Last year I paid a $7k “over estimate” to Workers Comp. Sucks, but its the cost of doing business.

so what happens too the “extra” on the estimate?

just a sorry charlie?

Seems high, it’s a base rate per payroll of employees covered.

You sure you have the correct classification code.

That’s 13%. I’ll trade you my 27% in California. You don’t want to know how much I paid last year. My overage bill was $13k alone…

In NJ, when you get Workers Comp, you pay on estimated payroll from the year before. At the end of the term, you are audited to find what your actual payroll was, and you pay the difference.

Needless to say, my payroll was about $100k more in 2016 than it was in 2015 lol

what is the right code?

I was told that it’s 99975, and that “it’s an expensive class code to insure”.

i thought all the codes were 4 digits

Try going under janitorial, it’s cheaper by far, at least here.
