Who's interested in getting a half-piece for your sectional ladder?

It’s looking like I’ll have a little free time on my hands this winter, as we’re not expecting much snow for snow removal. I was just wondering if anyone would be interested in getting a home made 4’ half-piece for their stack ladders.

Right now I’m thinking the cost might be around $400 + shipping for an assembled piece, built with all new parts. Just an FYI, you would need to take full responsibility for how/if you use it, and it’s suitability for use. It might not be the sort of thing you would want an OSHA inspector to see, so I’ll unfortunately have to limit this to owner-operators, only.

That said, I think having a home made half piece is safer than not having one at all. Mine is set up to accept the locking pins, and feels just as safe as an unmodified section.

@Chris or @Alex, please let me know if this is or isn’t cool with you, and we can delete the thread. Thanks

If you absolutely positively HAVE to use a sectional ladder… then a half piece is a good investment.

Not for me of course, but I’m just sayin.

Jared, I’ve run out of witty ways of intimating that you’re missing out… horribly…

Lol, I’m looking at around $250 just for the parts…

Ha. Yeah, in the back of my head, I was thinking…
“That’s probably not far off, when you think about it- $400.”

It ain’t gouging, it’s kind of “the new normal” (I hate that term) for us.

Incidentally, I have some still, but if I was going to buy one…
I would be fine with the “user assumes all risk”

Don’t encourage him…

In the interest of full disclosure (and in case anyone is interested in just building their own), here’s my parts list:

It’s a bit of work to get it assembled properly. As I mentioned in the other thread, I’m not expecting to get rich off of this. I’d just like to be able to help out some other wc’ers that need it

Hey man, I was just trying to help you in your new endeavour! Once @Chris sees all the posts in this thread, you might have your own business up in here. In fact, if you sweet talk him, maybe he can hook you up with a discount to help you along.

Don’t forget, I already have a set of sectionals. I can recognize them as a good tool, I just don’t like them. Everyone has a preference and I don’t like them, like widebody channels, unger handles, or NY thin pizza.

In fact, I just gave my set to a friend of mine for a specific job we used to do. I think it’ll come in real handy for one specific job (in between louvers) mainly because she can use them upside down and place the v-tip on a ledge. If she likes them for that job we’ll talk price, otherwise, I’ll probably list them on WCR.

How handy are you and how much is your time worth? I think Alex is offering a decent price on a job that most people wouldn’t want to do. If you’re busy, outsource it to him, if you’re slow do it yourself.

But if you’re like me, you might want to buy 2 tops just in case you jack one up…

Hahaha, I know where you’re coming from Jared. And I think region may play a part in the usefulness of stacks, as well.

Thanks for the boost to the cause, as well. That’s exactly what I was thinking: I’ve already provided plenty of info on how to do this project yourself, but some people aren’t going to want to tackle this on their own, or have the time for it. I’ve got the time and the know-how, so I’d like to help

Oh, yeah, a bunch of posts from 4 jokers that are apparently all set with their stack ladders (apart from Skipper, perhaps. But I have a feeling he’s gonna build his own, lol)

I won’t turn down a discount, though
