When should I start marketing for gutter cleaning

Hey guys, so I started a window cleaning business a year ago part time but I took a step back from it bc we had twins 7
Months ago. This coming fall during gutter cleaning I want to start it up again. I plan on sending out a few rounds of eddm I’m just unsure when would be the best time to start this for the gutter cleaning season.
Thanks
Brian

Always market gutter cleaning. I do it all year long. Most people don’t clean their gutters and they always are looking to get it done.

Now.

Don’t think of gutter cleaning as just fall work. There’s certainly a burst then but spring is also a busy time for gutters.

I’ll take that into consideration for up coming years. However right now the kids are still too small and there is too much going on for me to do any extra work. I’m thinking by this coming fall they will be big enough/ more independent that I’ll be able to start up again. I don’t want to advertise now and not be able to perform the work. So if I was going to start in the fall when should I start?

Thanks
Brian

Depends where you’re located. I don’t clean gutters out any more, but when I did they wanted to wait after the leaves fell in November, and in spring after the threat of freezing was done.

Can’t really clean out a gutter with frozen decomposed leaves.:face_vomiting:

I live in Connecticut so oct, nov, and Dec I would imagine would be the months customers are looking to have it done, By this time the leaves should have all fallen. Should I start at the end of August or should I start in September / October?

Some people are worried of fire hazards in the summer as well.

Depends on your area and competition.

I always push gutter cleanings. I get a lot in the spring from people that couldn’t get scheduled in the previous fall. There are also clients that don’t do it every year and are happy to catch you a month early to make sure they get them cleaned. Cedars dump their old growth in the spring too and can fill a low trough fast! Mark

All year round. The service is always needed.

Starting today and everyday moving forward. After skimming through this forum a little bit I see a good majority of people with the mindset of “Don’t do everything at once” to keep you from getting overwhelmed. I don’t disagree with that but gutter cleaning and window cleaning go hand and hand.
I literally started yesterday and I’m advertising it on my door hangers. Once I hit residential neighborhoods I plan on that being a good briefing for me to talk with potential customers that I happen to come face to face with.

Listen to WCR’s latest podcast. The one put out yesterday. Jersey talks about this very subject.
