It’s one thing to watch a guy claiming to make bank type cash flow on a video, it’s quite another to actually get your hands dirty and grind 7 days a week for months on end.
The enthusiasm is great! By all means if a person can be so successful right off the bat we should congratulate them.
Does the enthusiasm wear off after a few weeks pounding the pavement? That’s a question a new person to the industry will eventually ask themself.
Funny, we didn’t start our business hoping to make $100k+ a year. I’ll be happy the day we crack that mark but we’re in no desperate push for it. It should happen naturally, after working hard to establish your name and reputation.
I see this approach on Shark Tank. Everyone wants to be the next billion dollar company. What do you need so much money for? So you get your billion, and then what?
It annoys me that the first thing someone wants is the success without the hard work.
I assuming you are referring to my recent post. I never said that right out of the gate I wanted to make 100k a year and I also said that I would need to hire help along the way. I know it would take years to accomplish making that kind of money regardless of what days of the week I am working. But in the end you still need to set goals for your company to achieve. Everyone’s goals are different and just because someone is shooting high doesn’t mean they can’t do it. I have taken everyone’s advice and I have reconsider my goal but that’s why I started the conversation to begin with so I could how everyone truly felt if it was achievable. Thanks!
yes i have.
yes it is worth the money.
i have almost 40 years in business but only a few in window cleaning.
so i came with ideas about what would work but often lacked the confidence to actually do them.
Chris’s book validates many of the ideas i had and adds others.
the most important thing is that it is based on his actual methods and results IN THIS BUSINESS!
not putting anyone on blast.
But it’s been a recurring theme and they all say 100k first year.
Not 50k, 150k, 75k, but a recurring 100k.
I’m happy for anyone making that mark, but I believe as business owners a number shouldn’t dictate the success of a business.
As NEW business owners I believe we should be pushing a lifeline goal as opposed to a numbers goal.
Im coming into my third year and I’m still focusing on putting something on the schedule every day, and the money will come with that.
I think 100k is a nice round number. Hitting it in year one isn’t unthinkable with advertising and employees. I hit 54 my first year wth myself and 1 employee part time. We only worked 20-25 hours a week and didn’t do much work at all less than 5 hours a week average from Mid November-March 1st. If I would have pushed going door to door etc I probably could have it it but I didn’t want to grow to fast. My growth was all word of mouth and I did one add in a magazine for my area at about 3k a quarter. Which generated 4 times the investment.
I am now in a small town so my goal is to get to 2500 a month in route work by my birthday Sept 18th so I can leave my full time job. The cost of living here is very low. Then with the extra time I hope to grow it to 70-100k a year and enjoy life.
Ask me again when I hit that makr if I plan to cruise or push to 1 million lol
Member when I created that thread in January that became one of the top 10 threads in WCR history in a week… making fun of the 100k internet guru guy… The thread is gone but I member
