What is the best HARD Flat Top Rubber option? - Soren, Black Diamond, Sorbo, etc

Hi y’all.

As I’m getting ready for some hot weather soon, I was wondering which one of the three flat top rubber is the hardest and suitable for summer. I’m almost through the Sorbo rubber pack I had for my Sorbo channels. Whats the hardness comparison between Ettore Soren and Black Diamond Flat Top which is marketed as soft rubber? Is there a harder flat top rubber? Thanks in advance…

Hey Sean,

The Sorbo is a soft rubber, the Ettore Soren is a medium and the Black Diamond medium used to be called hard but people said it wasn’t hard enough. If you want to try something different, go with the Black Diamond, its the most affordable by far. It sold as a medium rubber but the packaging still says hard so… its worth a try.

Hope this helps.

Hey Alex,

Good to know that BD flat top is actually more medium or hard, not soft. I’ll have to give it a try. Thanks a bunch.

Yep, for sure.

Black Diamond flat top rubber is only listed as soft on WCR

Hey Ben, the Flat Top rubber that Black Diamond makes is indeed a soft rubber. We feel that listing it as such eliminates confusion when people are trying to narrow down the type of rubber which will suit them.

The only other really popular rubber that doesn’t state hard or soft is Ettore and most know that it is a medium blend.

Hope this clears things up a bit. Thanks !

just to be clear the OP was asking about flat top rubber but only the round top black diamond is sold as medium/hard.

So, Black Diamond flat top is soft, not medium then…? Is it as soft as Sorbo or somewhere between Sorbo and Ettore Soren?

I actually just email Black Diamond and was told that the flat top rubber is medium. But Alex, 3 days ago you said that it is soft. What the right answer?
