What do you do with a customer like this?

If some how I got under your skin because I bumped a post a couple days ago about the weekend you first started a year ago

http://windowcleaner.com/t/tips-for-knocking-on-doors/31612/22?u=trenchfeet

I’m sorry. I don’t see how you consider your feedback as feedback for this question i asked

Help me understand.

it has nothing to do with any other post, i quoted the part that concerns me, you called your customer a douch bag. it really bugs me when window cleaners act entitled. when they talk trash about their customwers behind their back with a group of people they think are likely to agree it shows a lack of class, i pointed out that you seemed angry at him and that anger is unreasonable.

That’s fine it’s a free country. Think what you want.

Look dude, don’t read anger into my posts, instead take it like I’ve got my hand on your shoulder and I’m trying to give you some helpful advice. check your attitude.

My parents own a floor covering and furniture store and they also deal hunter Douglas window coverings. I’ve sold a few of my customers on them and they make my job a ton easier! I’m sure you could work a deal with a local dealer and maybe even get a little commission on the sale.

The best way to handle someone that wants to promise you that he has other work for you , but could you give me a good price now

Is to just say it’s a company policy that i don’t discount on promised work it’s happened in the past an the work sometimes doesn’t ever come. . Than proceed to give him your normal price , an it’s a take it or leave it.

I just had a tree service guy come up to me he saw my van, an saw me working he came walkmg over to me saying he could get me so much work ( which is cool ). I said thanks man I appreciate that He said he needed his house done. Ok great !!

I’ll give him my normal price an that’s that

Down the road if I notice I’m getting a lot of leads he will have a free power washing every year starting after I get the work from him.
If not his price will be just like he is a regular customer

If he says he can get me what he says then it will be well worth it. He wants tons of cards so we will see.

Wow! Is that really a storefront? That looks terrible! I would drive right on by if I were a customer…

Update. Tomorrow is the scheduled date for this job. I’m scheduled to do interior and exterior so I just dropped in to remind them. Owner says “yeah they cool the building down really well, but they are going to be in your way.” I agreed. He says they are planning on removing them in the fall. For the time being, Just do the ones that are unaffected and we’ll talk in the fall. So I’m getting the same money for a lot less windows.

He also gave me another monthly clean. “Just go do it and tell me how much.”

So waiting him out instead of flying of the handle was the best course here.

Wouldn’t it be nice if they all worked out so perfectly?

This is becoming a theme in my life. Makes things so much easier inn my self. Why did it take 40 plus years?

Well some customers are douche bags. They get charged more :joy::joy::joy:

I would never do business with you

you get a gut feeling about customers from the very start

i had a physio clinic get in touch by email, in the exchange of emails i sensed trouble with a capital T - but thought maybe im reading too much into the “master & servant” tone and instead decided to start cleaning for them.

They then picked holes in my work and took ages to pay. lesson learned, dont ignore gut feelings
