WFP to 6th story?

#1

Got a request to bid a 6 story building today. Windows are all casements, no screens, but are older…probably 25 years at least. About 2000 panes, most of them are bunched together in squares of 9.

I’ve never used WFP so we’ll probably pass but this is a good time to ask: can this be WFP’d, from the ground? Would the learning curve be too much to start on a building like that?

No uneven ground, all sidewalks. It’d be tough to get anything bigger than a genie lift in some parts though.

Posted in WCRA forum, too.

I haven’t gone higher than 3 stories. But I have seen pics of them goin pretty high. You may just have to add a booster pump I’m not sure.

If tap pressure is good (building that size, chances are good it is) probably no need for booster pump. I have cleaned 6 stories w/ my 72’ Simpole. It’s a workout, but no real difficulties.

my first wfp was a 5 story job with a 55’ dual hose tucker pole…Talk about a workout. 210 panes per floor

My first one was a 3 story w/ a 45’ (I think) tucker.

That’s why I own a Gardiner SL-X 30 now. haha.

The highest I’ve gone is 4 floors, and like it’s been stated, it is a work out. I’d go for it though. Bid high, if you get it it will be worth it for you. One piece of advice. WFP makes cleaning a lot faster, but still take your time. Spend twice as long on each window as you think you need. It will still be 5 times faster then traditional cleaning methods, and the windows will look great. There’s nothing worse then having to re-due them. Another trick we use on the 4th floor is having 3 guys per wfp, and rotating often. One guy does a couple windows, then switch. Make sure when you are resting not to look up, your neck will thank you later.

What purification system are you using, Mike?

1 cubic ft. DI tank from WCR. Pretty good water here.

I’d probably want to use a bosun’s chair on that one. You may end up standing in the middle of the street trying to water fed pole that one, good luck!

Got to agree with Brian D here, we work to 7 stories with a Gardiner superlite looks like you will be in the middle of a city street there.

the stars need to align to clean anything that high with a wfp

#13

On what basis do you say that?

Try five floors at the ebd of a 32 foot ladder with a 45 foot tucker.
Also never raise a 85 foot tucker buy your self because it will break under its own weight.
