We are all in the same boat now!

I’ve seen those comments in recent discussions on this forum.

I agree WHOLE HEARTILY, I don’t want destroy my clients windows…and I won’t !

ADVANCED W/C

Dave it’s not the window cleaner or the razor it’s the defect and it’s only tempered windows that have the defect. By getting a waiver … never mind I don’t think you get it.

If a window cleaner walks up to a window and doesn’t scrape the window there will be no scratches, If the glass has FD and the cleaner scrapes the window there will be scratches… I do get it , and I won’t scratch my clients glass !

ADVANCED WINDOW CLEANER

thatta boy!

I wont scrape tempered glass…problem solved.

What about the glass you test where there’s a “tendency to scratch” according to you? That means there are scratches, yes?
This is why I said testing shouldn’t be done. Once you “see” scratches it’s too late. And as the sticker (that this whole post is about) says anything you use besides soap, water, washer, and squeegee is banned. It’s time to get on the same page and stop blaming the cleaner or razor.

The issue may be excessive fabricating debris from our perspective, but the issue is probably scratched glass from an owner’s perspective.

The solution that the WC’ing industry has alwas held is to eliminate the defect by holding the manufacturers accountable. The solution the alternative/creative “crowd” offers is a means to address the issue based upon the perspective of owners – clean the glass without utilizing a scraper.

With a scraper, cause-and-effect may be the result – the WC’er/scraper caused the fabricating debris to be dislodged, move across the glass, with the scratched glass being the effect.

The alternative crowd – as I’m sure you’ll agree – is not ignoring the issue. It’s just not your issue.

Well thats not very nice!

Of course no you can’t do anything else either.

That’s a fair assessment, Larry.
Jay - I apologize you weren’t wrong after all.

I agree, it sucks. There isnt much we can do though Tony. Glass companies are not going to change for “lowly” window cleaners.

You’re right. Dange, I apologize.

My estimation of you is higher because of this, Tony.

LARRY… I agree with your point AT 1OO %

And, one might still get blamed for existing damage.

Tony…Apology accepted , thanks for being a stand up guy ! I appreciate you and your status here !

Your Friend the Dange…

Thats true. Was just in that situation a few weeks ago, but fortunately I had a waiver in place, and even more fortunately, my customer’s window cleaner at a previous home (in Maryland) had done an EXCELLENT job educating them about FD.

We need to all educate and have waivers in place, REGARDLESS of the specific method we use.

I’m a newbie and am not picking a dog for this fight just yet, but that sticker says soap and water. Does that rule out Windex? Every homeowner in the US has used Windex on their windows. Well, maybe 98% have. The other 2% have either never cleaned their windows with anything or are WCers who wouldn’t touch the stuff.

The sticker actually says use a mild dish soap and water…hmmm…Somebody should tell Dawn they are now approved for use in window cleaning
