Wash it Pro lost pressure

Yesterday we were cleaning with the Wash It Pro using only RO, not DI. Pressure at the brush was good, then it just died. Traced back and found that the water wasn’t coming out of the gray valve at the bottom of the RO. If we closed the valve, then reopened it, water would shoot out like pressure was built up, but then no flow would follow.

Any idea what the problem is inside the RO?

Check the carbon filter ahead of the RO filter. It may need to be replaced.

How do I tell if it needs to be replaced? How frequently should the carbon filter need to be replaced?

Also, how do I contact someone directly about this. I thought that Perry Tait was the guy, but I emailed him two days ago and haven’t heard back. I really need to get this thing working again.

The carbon filter rated for xx gal of water (e.g. 10,000), for removing chlorine, which degrades the RO membrane. It also is a particulate filter, for anything over 5 microns. If it gets plugged by dirt you will lose flow. Pressure will build when you close the grey output valve, because some water will get through, causing a short burst of water. Open and look at the filter. It should be pretty obvious if it is clogged.

Hmmm - I’m sorry I missed that email - the best guy to talk to is John Lee from WCR - He has dealt with more people as end-users and he works with a Wash-iT PRO in his business.

I’m thinking there is a blockage in a tube (check the carbon to RO at the top) - it really sounds like a hose issue more than an RO issue…

I would want to agree with this. If it was the inner workings of the RO membrane I would think the low flow or lack of flow would be consistent.

Good news is that the Wash-iT pro is a very easy system to maintain and diagnose. Here’s what I would do if I were in the same situation.

Step 1. Open Carbon/sediment filter housing and check filter. This filter should be changed every 4-6 weeks depending on usage. Take the filter out and look in the housing for any physical debris floating around. Replace filter if it’s a brownish colour or if it’s damaged. If you do change it out and/or flush out any loose debris in the housing, test the Wash-iT Pro performance again.

Step 2. If step 1 didn’t help, open the top of the RO housing and look for any loose debris floating on top of the membrane and fish out if there is any debris. You can also pull out the RO (easier than you may be thinking) and check for any debris in the RO housing (the silver housing with all the wash-iT lettering on it). Flush out if necessary. Inspect the RO membrane for any appearance of physical damage. Put the RO back in making sure it’s in the same direction as when you pulled it out.

Step 3. Before recapping the RO housing, You might want to hook up your water source to the carbon/sediment housing and run water through it and as the water passes through it will go up the black hose and out the RO housing cap. This is to check for a possible hose blockage. if everything is flowing fine then recap the RO housing securely.

Step 4. You may also want to unscrew the grey plastic valve on the bottom of the RO and check for any debris in there.

Step 5. Test it all out. Outside of the above steps, I can’t imagine what else it could be.

Whole diagnosis process should take 20-30 minutes tops.

It’s definitely brown, and there was a stink bug in there, but I wouldn’t say it looks clogged.

I would replace it and see what difference it makes. 6.46 For a 2 pack at home depot.

Did we get a result?

Did you make any progress on this? I think its likely what Beautiful View mentioned.

If you dont have it sorted give us a call and we can assist. 1–862-266-0677

I’ve barely had any time this week. I got the new carbon filter in, but there’s still just a trickle coming out. I’m going to have to remove the black hose and see if there’s a blockage before it goes into the RO. The RO discharge seems to be running at full power though, so it seems like the water is getting in okay, but it’s not getting out. Not sure when I will have time to mess with this. We’ve just been using the giant old DI tank.

So there isn’t any blockage coming from the carbon filter or the black hose leading into the RO, so I’m going to have to open the RO and see what’s what. I see that there’s a large hex on the top of the RO chamber. Is that what needs to turn to open it?

There is a large steel clamp on the RO housing, you’ll need two wrenches to loosen the hardware holding that clamp on. Once the clamp is off just take a pair of pliers and pull the black cap off, you’ll have to use the same pliers to remove the RO as well.

Before you put the RO back together, be sure to lube up all the o-rings.

Hey did you end up getting this problem resolved?
I had the exact same issue pop up on me mid Fall season and really had me reeling.

When I checked my Carbon filter the top housing was cracked and it was pretty brown even tho it hadn’t been a month since i changed it last. I replaced CF but still had some problems with it. I just took the entire system apart and put back together. I’m curious if RO could be shot or ruined in some way to block full flowage?

Did you resolve your issue? Need some help? Let us know how we can assist getting this sorted out for you.

There is a one-way valve at the bottom of the RO just before the 90° angle and the gray shut off valve you can try removing that valve and see if the water comes out sometimes it gets stuck it’s a very inexpensive replacement part

After taking everything apart, even removing RO filter and bottom cover to be nothing looked unusual I put it back together and put some RO protect in and will revisit this early spring.
@John when I had the issue in October you sent me a replacement one-way valve and I still had the problem so that’s not the issue. To be honest I didn’t give it many tries after replacing the carbon filter because I was still getting dribbles coming out and was in the midst of busy fall to fool around with it.
Thanks

OK then it sounds more like an ro issue do you know what the water
temperature was coming out of the Spicket because that can affect the ro
big time
