Uniform overalls

I was thinking from a practical standpoint they make sense in a lot of ways.

Belt and boab pulling pants down is no longer an issue
Get the bib embroidered on a couple pairs and wear any shirt you like underneath, thus simplifying the purchase and laundering of uniforms
Probably very durable and long-lasting, if purchased from a company like carhartt.
Can insert knee pads; handy when cleaning low windows and sills.
Extra pockets for tools, TDS readers, pens, etc.
Unique look that prospects and customers will definitely remember

Cons:
Could be hot in the summer
Might make you look like a hillbilly to some customers

And lastly, there’s this guy who gave me the idea

What do you all think?

I personally wouldn’t want to wear them. Think of how heavy they’d be hanging on your shoulders. Slinging a squeegee all day, you want to limit weight on your shoulders and arms.

Tried wearing overalls when I was building highrises. Didn’t care for it. Too hot.

I believe @Dangerous wears them. He knows how to make them look good, like a true son of ettore, while stacking those sectional ladders. Me? I know I’d look like a complete dork.

I’ve worn overalls for different types of work (construction and farm work). This is going to sound weird (like really weird), but they always rub my nipples raw. :grimacing:

Overalls, you think would be a good idea. But i think being in a warm and humid climate like you are, i think you would melt.

A side note as for the uniqueness, I like the concept.

I never get too warm!

Painters wear them, but for summer you could wear overall shorts.

That’s just painful to look at.

Could it be any worse than the weight borne entirely on my hips with regular pants?

A valid point. And I’m even further south than you :disappointed_relieved:
Maybe I could try cutting some vents in the backside.

Mike Nichols swears by them, and he’s one one the coolest guys I know… He sent Luke a pair. He has yet to test them.

Anytime I carried a lot of tools with overalls on for a long time, I’d get a pretty gnarly rash on the area where the overalls continually rubbed back and forth. That said, they are super useful because of all the pockets, hammer loop, etc.

I thought about doing this, name yourself Overall window cleaning etc. depending on the jean material overalls are sometimes cooler than a tucked in shirt. Not to mention you don’t have to worry about shirts coming untucked and plumber’s crack showing!

Farmer’s wear them all the time down here in Tn and they don’t seem to care

Snickers workwear overalls may be a better choice as they are made from the same material as there trousers.Probably would nt melt as much in them compared to regular denim ones.

Alright so I ordered a pair of dickies bib overalls in khaki color to try out. I’ll update when I’ve had a chance to work in them a few days.

i tried some suspenders for my workbelt and they were fine as long as i didn’t have to reach upward in which case it was uncomfortable.

I’m thinking about getting a lightweight pair of overalls. I like lots of pockets.

Go for it, at the very least they make excellent lawn mowing/yard work clothes that you don’t have to constantly pull up your pants when you’ve been sweating all day
