The Trad pole fix

anyone who uses trad poles knows the locking cones are a pain in the arse! whoever thought them up needs a damn good kicking! anyhow i came up with a quick way to lock and unlock the pole [at full extent is where i want it] by drilling right thru at the required point and using a spring type Rclip . i then engraved the alignment marks and Voila i can have my poles up n down in half the time than usual, cone is left loose.

How is that adjustable? Do you drill every 3" or so?

its just for setting it at the max. extent a speedy lock/unlock solution - this is the setting where i mostly use my poles 99% of the time . if i wanted it lower i could still use the locking cone

haha i have a really old painting pole that uses that system. holes every foot.

bet its quicker than these “new fangled” pole locking cones

Humm, I got a year out of the unger optilocs but when they started slipping you could by new locks and collars for them for pretty cheap.

But I just figured each pole produced a ton of work so at the year mark I just planned on replacing the entire pole. I like the collars a LOT better than the interlocks.
