That’s cool man. There are those who are going to like the gunslinger and others will like mine. It’s all good because me and Richie were trying to solve our own problems and one of us will probably scratch your itch.
To be honest, even when I use it, I’m surprised that the Samurai works like it’s supposed to. And I designed it. But after years of using pulex and then ninja… yeah, it’s different. It’s so weird to grind out 5 hours of windows and have a dry pant leg. It’s really weird to be able to use whatever size tool I want. It’s also weird to carry my wagtail (with pad) along with a mop and squeegee.
So will the Samurai solve all your problems? I dunno. It might solve some problems but I’m hoping that with enough feedback the community of window cleaners can make the Samurai the best boab out there.
Yeah, it’s weird. There are those who say that there’s no “craftsmanship” in injection molded products and that it only takes 45 seconds to squirt out a bucket and people will just dump all over it. They see the quick output but don’t realize the difficulty that goes into making that mold.
The mold for the bucket has 250 parts. Each part must be machined, fitted, heat treated, then fitted again… and no, I don’t have that sort of machinist skill. There are only 7 parts of that mold that define what my bucket looks like and when I actually held one in my hand, you have to know how the mold works and search for where the seams are. They did a VERY good job of machining. It’s also made out of steel and weighs close to 2,000 lbs so it should last me basically forever.
Boabs are REALLY big parts for injection molding and they’re tricky to design molds for. The ninja used some tricks which made their mold a LOT more expensive which is why it’s made in china.
Oh, and not to mention having to research what sort of plastic you’re going to use. The other boabs are made of polypropylene and mine is made with polyethylene (HDPE - which is a derivative of polypropylene). Your pulex window cleaning bucket bucket is made from HDPE and most bucket buckets are made from HDPE because it’s flexible, retains it’s shape, doesn’t break when dropped or hit, resistant to temperatures, and resistant to most chemicals. Other boabs made with polypropylene which is old school.
So yeah, that 45 second squirt is the result of months and months of work and research.
