The Official Samurai Boab Thread

I would look for something similar, but simpler, like a silhouette

I can fill in the white and make it a silhouette. I just like the helmet.

Oh yeah the helmet is dope

It’s your product, so it’s your logo.

Personally, I would find a caricature of a chubby Samurai with a sword drawn at ready to fight.

Isn’t there too much of a reference to Unger’s Ninja here? It’s a bucket/tool holder.

You mean am I going after Unger? Not really. I mean it started off as a joke because samurai are better than ninjas when it comes to sword fighting. Ninjas were peasant assassins.

But as I started to design I was like “holy cow” that FITS. When I reveal the design you’ll see it too.

I’m not sure why Unger called it the ninja line. Just because it’s black? Because the name is cool?

Mine is called the samurai because of how I designed it. Especially the katana and wakizashi.

(I hope).

“I’m I dreaming??”

I’m looking forward to the samurai boab either way… :grinning:

Don’t worry I told a few friends!

Are we looking at the design of the boab?

Ninja < Samurai < Megazord

Watch for the new line of tools in 2019

That would be cool but the only thing that can defeat the Samurai is a Mongol horde.

@JaredAI I am sure you have already thought of all the different sizes and shapes of squeegee handles…How nicely will the Ettore Ledge Eze handle fit in the Samurai?

Yup! Shouldn’t be a problem. None of the handles should be a problem.

Oh, and you can wear the squeegees handle in or handle out.

Great! Thanks for the quick reply. I will hold off buying another boab until yours comes out.

Jared thats awesome man! I can’t wait to see how these turn out… especially since nobody has created a BOAB that really fits all the daily needs you described. Super Cool! Can’t wait until we can give these a try. Appreciate all the many many hours and funds you have put into this project. I can imagine it has been very time consuming… Thank you! @JaredAI

is the clip detachable like the pulex? i want to be able to put on and take off my boab in 1 sec

Awesome! I really hope it’s a game changer.

Thanks man. I’ve been thinking about it for 4 years now and spent the last 6 months and four different 3d prints actually designing it. I think it’s ready to go.

Also, due to the way I designed it, I can change it based on feedback and not have to buy a new bucket mold. I expect there to be changes and I think with the great community we’ve got we can really dial it in to make it the best bucket on the market.

I’ve shown it to PolznBlades and I think I actually surprised him. So I’m getting really antsy!

I wish! They just said that the average is about 14 weeks. We’ve gotten the ball rolling but it might take 5 weeks to get the steel (a big cube that weighs about 2000-3000 lbs) then maybe another 5-9 weeks to cut it out and heat treat, add cooling lines, add ejectors, and eventually finally finally squirt a bucket out. They also need to take their time cutting it because if they screw it up, then they’ll have to start over and you can be sure I’m only paying for one mold. But they usually work with tolerances of 0.001-0.005. 0.005 is about the width of a human hair and my bucket doesn’t need super tight tolerances.

I asked their sales guy to take pictures when they get the steel and I’ll post them here. I hope to document the whole process to let everyone peek behind the curtain.

The interesting thing to me is how big a machine they need to make these things. We’re looking at a 400 ton machine since it’s the minimum size that has a big enough stroke.

Heck yeah man! But unlike the pulex, it’s also adjustable in case you want it to hang to your knees for some reason. Or it can ride high on your belt, up to you.

I started with a loop like pulex but I like the idea of this better:

It will velcro around your belt so that the buckle rides as high as possible. The adjusting will come from the other part of the strap.Oh, and you can use it without the buckle as well if you wanted that super high riding boab.

And did I mention that you can replace the buckle? It will come sewn in, but if you needed to you could cut out an old and worn buckle and replace it. I might draw up instructions on how to do that. I’m going to be using something similar to the Unger buckles because they seemed a lot more durable than the pulex ones.

And did I mention that if you wanted to replace the strap you could? If, for example, you wanted a strap with flames on it?

@JaredAI That would be cool to see the whole process. Thanks for offering to post pictures.
