Tempered glass geek in the house

Lmao! How is he “disrupting” and “obstructing” me? I’m actually enjoying his posts very much.

The thread has over 6,000 views, where is the disruption? It’s the hottest thread on WCR!

PS I could be wrong but I think the thread would have died along time ago if it wasn’t funny as well as informative to read.

Okay, misappropriation of words. Understood coatings are not part of the glass but part of the glass process. What I have missed is has “time delayed scratches” always been a problem or is this an additional new problem? I don’t remember where you have mentioned the cause of TDS 140 times. If you hold that knowledge could you please share it with the rest of us?

You two do tend to “tag-team” with each other when you go after somebody, so I’m sure you are enjoying each others posts.

Exactly! Gary should be thanking michaelmole and me for keeping his little thread going.

Because everyone who asks a question gets smacked. So except a few posts the thread would have died.

There’s a reason this is the most popular forum in the world, not sure what it is. Fun probably has something to do with it. Anyway let’s get back to the very dry topic of fabricating debris and scrapers.

So does anyone know when “time delayed scratches” came to be, or has it always been and we just didn’t realize it? Is today’s glass (last 10-12 years) more prone to TDS?

(To start a thread and only piece-meal information is a thread lengthening ploy IMO.)

You’ve already said “a scratch is a scratch” - clearly indicating you don’t care if it happens.

Perhaps you were distracted by mindless heckling, and you missed where I explained that time-delayed tempered glass scratch growth has been known to glass scientists since 1993.

In that sense, I guess it’s an old problem - that one day will become your new problem.

Gary,
You don’t help yourself when you ask for discussion and then when you get questions you hold everything someone has ever said against them. When you are so dismissive of people who are trying to educate themselves, even if they have said things you haven’t liked in the past, then you too are “only disrupting and obstructing” their efforts to grow.

“…clearly indicating you don’t care if it happens…”

Okay Rob the carpet guy. You win. Your attitude is worthy of schoolyard fodder. I tried to give you credence. I’ll do my best to try and follow more mature threads in the future.

Garry: That post went clear over my head. Am I the only one who didn’t get it?

Looks like you’re going to be joining the “heckling tag team” pretty soon, at this rate…

Nah. Not heckling. Just honest. Lots of silliness all around in this thread.

Thats what I was trying to say, when I was accused of obstruction of education, or whatever.

With 10 Million+ posts worth of experience, I would expect you to be more able to be clear.

Tony,
Nobody else in the world - the entire world - has the patience to explain this problem to window cleaners, because often they react badly.
(You’re not offering to give me a break and take over for a couple of weeks to show me how it’s done, are you?)

Garry did not just say once that it didn’t matter. Go back and look and you’ll see that he said it a whole bunch of times - and he stayed really mad about it.
Just a couple posts back, he accused me of stringing everyone along - as if HIS failure to read posts was MY tactic for extending a thread.
He needs to go back and read what I worked so hard to explain the first time around.

It would be easier for someone to go back and find what I worked so hard to explain earlier, if they didn’t have to sift out 120 mindless heckling posts, but that’s not my fault.

Blame that on the hecklers.

Referring back to the carpet wizard who busted through the door to tell everyone they were doing it all wrong and didn’t know what they were doing. He was a self made supreme being in marketing and branding.

Gary
No, I’m not offering to take over and give you a break, for at least two reasons: 1) I’m not as qualified and informed as you are; 2) I’m not as passionate about it.

If you are going to tackle a monster issue like this, then sadly, you will have to deal with a lot of nonsense. You have been mocked and heckled at times, and I’m sorry that’s happened, but I’m simply suggesting that you can deal with it better than you do at times. If a guy mocks and curses you but then thinks things over and asks you an honest question (which you are looking for), don’t remind him of the dumb things he said in the past. Just answer his question.

A lot of us respect your knowledge, passion and the time you have given for free to this issue. Thank you for all of that. Please take this suggestion in the spirit that it’s given.

Tony it is an apparent hopeless cause. I have met people like GM before and the holier than thou attitude interferes with their message to the point of debilitating towards the subject. Even though this type of person holds a wealth of knowledge on a particular subject they hold it against you if you don’t hang on their every word. I could go on with keywords that describe this type of person but I have become bored with the whole mess and will most likely find the information that I seek from other professionals in the field.
