Sub contract help

Hello everyone. I’m new to the forum but not new the the window cleaning biz. I’ve been burned before doing subcontracting jobs before(not getting paid). Anyways got a call from this guy yesterday who says he cleans windows for this guy’s store front business but the business owner now wants his personal home windows cleaned. The guy that called me doesn’t do residential window cleaning wants me to quote the job and possibly do it. What am concerned about is if l do the job and the homeowner cuts him a check how am l guaranteed to get paid? Should l ask for the money up front or at least half to start then the rest after job is complete. The only reason I’m asking is this guy sounds sketchy he said he gave him a quote at $200.00 interior/exterior. But wants me to give a quote then he said he will run it by the homeowner for the go ahead. I’m still trying to find a guy who burned me for $175.00 last year in a situation just like this one

Tell him you’ll do the job, get paid by the customer directly and write him a check for 10% :money_mouth_face:

Inform his customer that you are to be paid and then give the guy whatever % you ve agreed between yourselves.Look up the guys companies for reviews and home address as well just incase you do need to act on anything.

Also meant to say if you know anyone else that has had dealings with him in the past what there experience with him was like.

You do the estimate. Customer would pay you. You pay other WC the Finder’s Fee. Explain at the estimate, to the customer, he/she will be paying you, not him.

Just to corroborate what the others said.

At the very least, meet him at his bank to exchange the check/your cut.

You know exactly what to do already.

You said it yourself in op. You said, “sketchy”. What does that mean? It means pass on the deal because you know in your gut he should not be trusted.

PS
I’m assuming sketchy is another word for dishonest or untrustworthy, right?

How long should our friend wait for this guy if he’s late to the meeting at the bank?

But seriously, you’re right and I’m on board with everyone who’s saying if it doesn’t feel right don’t do it.

I went an quoted the job yesterday. Met the homeowner everything is legit. Home has storm windows so l gave an honest quote but l honestly dont think their gonna go for it because of the price. But l really dont care because l hate storm windows. He quoted them at $200.00 in/out. My price $333.00 in/out. Honestly not worth my time due to the time it would take plus you never know what can happen with storm windows there so delicate. Thanks for all the input guys
