Sticker Logos on windows

Sounds like it may be easy.

Experienced cleaners know what to watch for and how to handle certain types of glass using a scraper.

The idea of telling newbies here to go ahead scrape may not be a good suggestion.

Scratching the glass has already been mentioned on this thread by Jared.

I believe Phils razor set up is gentler than the more aggressive design we are all familiar with. Heā€™s an inventor. He may be onto something new that works. Iā€™ll be giving his idea a try in early March with four stores that got Christmas painted. I already know one of the stores definitely has fabricated debris on it. So Iā€™ll be carefull and see what happens.

On a side note: Just a heads up. Ya know you canā€™t believe everything you read on the internet. :sunglasses:

Not changing the fact that youā€™re scraping a window with a razor blade

Iā€™ll post back here after I remove the Christmas season paint off that storefront that has the debris on it.

small stickers no charge for regular customer, large covering more than %50 percent of window 15 to 20 bucks per pane.

I used this way even on a dry window to prove it works but I always used it on a very soap up window and it does not affect the windows . used it all day today with soap on the window and using only wfp is not really good either without soap on the glass

Yeah the sticker is covering the whole window. Itā€™s probably like 20x15

I would test for 10 minutes to see how much can be done in that amount of time, then charge by the hour or just estimate how long it will take you for the whole job and charge accordingly

Thatā€™s what I charge as well but only if it comes off easy, fifteen minutes or so. I donā€™t believe $20 is enough if it takes well over an hour and sometimes it does. All glue isnā€™t created equal. Itā€™s a crap shoot.

$60 An hour

Tell him thatā€™s your standard labor charge. With these type of things we just donā€™t know how itā€™s going to go. Could be a real bitch might come right off.
ciukd take a half hour might take an Hour an a half.
Oil Flo works really good. I just used it to get a sticker of a stainless steel applaimce that was on there for quite some time

It does look interesting, but Iā€™d never suggest a new guy or give it to somebody working for me. Looks like it could be a quick trip to the hospital. Iā€™d never suggest to razor dry glass perhaps Iā€™m still a newbie but thatā€™s not something Iā€™d ever do. We always try to use an abrasive pad before we have to break out the razor , for vinyl lettering ect. Of course I would go straight to my razor. Be safe

I am not a big fan of using scrapers on glass. Watched to many videos and read to many forum posts about fabricated debris to ever feel comfortable scraping a window again. I even have a paragraph on my web site with a link to Gary Mauers scratched glass web site. Scraping glass is a very risky business.

PS
From my web site

Is it safe to scrape paint, decals and other debris off windows with a razor blade scraper?

Scraping windows with a razor blade can be very risky business, because some of the newer types of glass are highly susceptible to scratching. This is why the glass industry has taken a new position in recent years - that scrapers should no longer be used to clean glass.

Iā€™ll be adding this link to my page soon

I may loose four locations on my storefront route because of the scenic holiday murals painted on their windows. If I refuse to scrape off the paint they will be forced to call someone else in.

The guy who paints the murals uses a one inch razor without the scraper when he removes a mural. He holds it between his thumb and index finger and claims to have NEVER scratched a window. Perhaps this is true. If it is true it has something to do with a gentle touch. Iā€™d rather use Philā€™s 6 inch razor idea that the painters 1.5 inch razor idea.

Windex and a bare razor is what he uses. He laughed at me when I tried to tell him about FD. Talked at me like I was crazy. Lol

lol I canā€™t imagine using a 1" blade to take murals off. Thsts insane.
Unless there willing to pay me then ya sure Iā€™ll use a 1" blade.

@BostonMike. The last thing you should be worrying about is scratching glass on storefronts. Your a pro use your blade correctly An only scrape where there is soap An water in the glass an thsts all there is too it.

Mike honestly I wan you to count alll the scratches you see today while your cleaning your route. Give me a call when you get to a 100

An Iā€™m not saying itā€™s ok to scratch glass

About 40 panes of storefront windows need to be scraped with a 1 inch scraper. The murals are about four to five feet tall. Geez

Not sure if thatā€™s true my friend.

Who is saying that it needs to be with a 1" in scraper ?
Becuse my 1" scraper price is double my 6" scraper price an Kt should be triple in just being nice
