Snow removal

Anybody do snow removal? I did it last year and an doing it again this year, I bought a cheap paddle wheel style blower last year. It works well until the snow gets thick and wet. I’m looking at getting an auger style this year but just wanted to know a good one. Any advice. I’m looking at this one. …

Yeah, I just take very small apartment parking lots and sidewalk jobs. I don’t use a plow, just the blower

Snow removal can be a nice chunk of change but it’s such a P.I.T.A.

It’s definitely work, but it’s nice pay through the winter

Soon they say. We’ll see. It was 67 today. Supposedly we’re going to have a snowy winter. That’s really the only issue here, we don’t consistent have a lot of snow yearly

We’ve done it the last couple winters. It’s been a lifesaver. We just use a couple of little single stage toro throwers (16" and 24"). I’m also thinking of upgrading to a 2 stage, this year. And I’d love to find a track machine that can climb a steep ramp.

The issue for me is the space a larger machine will take up. We use the xB as our truck, so I’m limited in total length and height. Does anyone know of a 2 atage track machine that has a small footprint, and has handles that only come up about 38-42" or so? I’m thinking somewhere in the 20-24" wide range?

May be a little pricey though :weary:

A little cheaper.
With the the Areins you could fold those handles down

Why not install a trailer hitch and then get a folding wheelchair/scooter carrier for the mount? Nice little ramp for the blower, stays outside of your vehicle so doesn’t get the inside all wet.

JaredAI that’s exactly what I’m doing. I bought a new blower, and not the one I originally posted, but it’s a little bigger and won’t fit in my van

I actually have the trailer hitch, already. I’m really digging the idea of not driving it up into the vehicle. The one thing holding me back is the idea of putting 200+ lbs on the tiny hitch. Most of the wheelchair/scooter carriers I’ve seen have been on larger vehicles/hitch receivers. And I had to have my hitch modified by a welder, so I’m afraid it may be lacking some of its initial strength.

That ariens blower would fit in the back, if I were to add an extension to the deck in the back of the xB. But it would be much nicer to not have to do that

I only do snow removal with Scotch in my bloodstream.

Y’all can have it lol

This is what I ended up going with. I’ll let you know how it does after our first good snow
