Slow

July was pretty good for us even though we took 2 weeks off. August has been a bit slower but better than last year. If we don’t have to work in the afternoon, I don’t mind. The heat is brutal. I keep away from gutter jobs I can’t start at 8am.

Things get better next month

Calls slowed down a bit a couple weeks back, when we were getting non-stop rain. Still stayed booked for the most part, but only a week out instead of the usual 2-4 weeks.

Took a couple days off due to rain and wanting to get other stuff done around the house. But could’ve worked if I wanted to.

Now that the weather has improved, calls seem to be streaming in at a pretty good rate; more than usual for us this time of the year.

This is my third August and it has been slow, as were the previous two Augusts. The slowness is making it easier to be on vacation to visit my kids and grandson.

Ben, how is the fire thing going out in your neck of the woods? Hope all is getting better.

it’s now north of us 10 or 15 miles, it’s more than 70% contained. it’s made our air quality horrendous for the last 4 weeks, today is the first day that i haven’t had to wear a mask yet, but we’re working a little ways out of town and the air has been slightly better here lately.

here is an air quality map, the fire is closer to that 277 number.

here is the fire map

I know the smoke is so bad. I just got back from a hiking trip to North Georgia. Standing at the top of Brasstown Bald (highest point in Georgia) and the smoke had drifted/blown in from California and Canada!

What part of Michigan?

Yea the smoke came in bad a few times here in northern Colorado.

August was dead for my business. Right here at the end i got a few jobs booked and also did some subcontracting work for about a week. Glad i did but i dont think im working for that guy again. Hoping September looks a bit better because I need some savings!
