Scrim towel size

Did it. Bought a scrim towel and it is HUGE. Been reading up and watching videos on the size of it and most people that use it say to leave size as and use it for detailing but in the same breath they say how absorbent it is and could be used as a mopping, or sill towel. My question is why not have two? One the original size and cut a second one up into half or fourths so they are easier to wrap around your squeegee or pole for detailing and not have to worry about them dangling into water and making a mess.

I cut most of my scrim in half and sewed the edges. I much prefer them half size.

I just bought some of the red Xero Fish scale towels and they are quite amazing. Super absorbent. I’ll be cutting some of those in half and sewing the edges as well.

I use blue Huck towels as my slop towel to wipe sills and use the scrim and fish scale towels for detailing.

I never wrap my scrim around a pole. Typically, I kind of toss it into my hand from my shoulder, half ass fold it in half and crunch it up in the corner of the frame and stick the pole tip in the wad and use it like that. If you get a wagtail you can eliminate the detailing along that top sill completely, or just don’t wet the top half inch of the window…

I actually prefer the full-size scrim to stick on the end of my pole for detailing. Watch some of steve-o’s YouTube videos where he uses old bath towels for pole work. It’s pretty simple once you practice the motion a few times. Just drop one corner over the pole tip, then double back with the diagonal corner and you’ve got a decent wrap. Done right, it won’t leave too much slop so as to mess up any other parts of your nice clean glass.
