Sansco Window Cleaning Concentrate

Does anyone remember this product? I was introduced to it back in 1985. Then I was told it was responsible for a National chain of window cleaning companies that were using the name Bright Way. The formula is based on 25% to 50% tridecyl alcohol ethoxylate and 10% to 25% potassium sorbate. I have located the manufacturer and a couple of companies that sell it but have asked Chris Lambrinides if he is interested in picking it up. Currently I have located a chemical supplier of tridecyl alcohol ethoxylate and am in the process of obtaining samples to demonstrate at the 84 Diner Meet in March. My intent is to improve on the formula to create an even better formula. It does leave somewhat of a film but is great for commercial storefront work. Even gives you retrograde squeegee motion. Great suds and unbelievable slip. It does beat Dawn. But no it is a carbon chemistry. Not silicon. So it is not a Super Soap.

Is anyone interested?

Dawn has been letting me down on some storefront grease lately. Looking forward to the meet up in Fishkill.

Ahhh. Could be you might like to try out some tridecyl alcohol ethoxylate with ammonia or a touch of sodium hydroxide. Back in the old days we would add a 27 degree ammonia to Sansco. Unbelievable slip and an excellent grease cutter! Of course a touch of SKRUB helps to cut grease too;…mechanically. I will never forget the day I snorted that 27 degree ammonia. Never experienced so much pain in my nose. Was dancing around the parking lot for a good fifteen minutes.

Sansco was the first soap I bought in 1989 lol, I can still see the label

Hi Bruce,

Thanx for sharing. You are an old timer like me!

Video or it never happened

I started out in the 80’s with TSP and ammonia. It had great slip and suds. But killer on the skin.

I use Dawn Platinum. Lots of slip and great results with a drop off Ettore squeegeeoff. I’d be interested in trying new stuff!

I think we all would be amazed at how many new products there are out there. I just started working with a new chemical manufacturer who has many different chems that we could use. Very nice people!

And yes John. TSP by itself isn’t very sudsy but does have incredible slip. I discovered using sodium metasilicate (water glass) along with either a nonionic (ethoxylated alcohol) or an anionic blend like Dawn, gave me great suds, fantastic slip, and excellent grease cutting ability. But it too would dry out my skin very fast.
