Rough day

Actually it would be around 15 years that you get the 100% increase (compounding effect). But if inflation held steady at 3%, then the effective raise is around 35% after 15 years. Still not a bad deal.

“This seems like you have put an arbitrary constraint on yourself based on the sunk cost, and not good business sense. I’m really not trying to bash you here.” No offense taken-I’m learning from you all-THANK YOU! Your comments ring true. I got a name with a good record and longevity (1979) and the phone number-The real reason I was willing to buy. I’m taking time to talk to the successful businessmen/women I clean for and they are extremely gracious in making recommendations etc., much like you all.

Thanks for the article. Thanks for making feel guilty about eating the crud I do! :cookie::shaved_ice::candy:

Alex, you are smarter than I am when it comes to economics :):+1:

Scared of the same thing, losing a customer that in my case was underbid. Storefront, 15 out, 25 in out, now 25 out, 50 in out, bi weekly with inside cleaned every other. Went from 40 every 4 weeks to 75, and I didnt expect them to take it, but they did. I can make good money now elsewhere, and I should have raised it a year ago. Very freeing, so now I am going to start raising a few a month and replacing the income of those that I lose before raising the others. (That is if my total income goes down) totally worth the risk, and wish i would have done it sooner! Not all are underpriced, but the ones that are stink to do. I am also sorry to hear you got robbed!

I’ve been doing residential for 30 years. Started out as a one man shop. Now I work 8 months a year and have 4 seasonal employees. I think your missing the fact that you charge what you need to make a living, for me that’s $60/hr per person.
I do pay my employee’s $15/ hr

That’s great to know. I was thinking the minimum should be at that price. Others have said $100/hr. I get that alone in several jobs but with my helper it’s at $65. I need to get booked up and out several weeks though before I go with ft employees. Hopefully in a few more months I can get a ft guy.

Thanks for the advice!
