Razor Scratching Glass

Knowing how to differentiate various scratches is the key! Dont assume the window/door was of good or poor quality. Fabricating debris scratches are very distinctive in nature as opposed to sheer negligence or deliberately scratched.

As Bill said…rust ie: Iron Oxide is much harder then the glass as opposed to the blade itself …be it carbon or stainless. Then again there could have been some debris or GAK if you prefer already on the blade.

Are you saying that not using water/soap is the cause?

I’m familar with fab. debris. I have experienced it several times, I know what it feels like and I know what kind of scratch it leaves. I know that in certain light it may be difficult to see. Thankfully, this is a quality tempered glass door, no fab. debris.

That was my theory, but Jeff Klass just said that scraping dry glass does not scratch glass, so I am looking for a new theory. If all of this is true in every situation, I would say that a rusty razor would be the culprit. You can see these scratchs from 10 feet away with your eyes closed. I would like to know what caused them. (or at least a good idea)
