Katie, you’ve come to the right place.

You’re new to the forum and may not realize that no one here has malicious intent. For the most part everyone is pretty light-hearted, so I wouldn’t be quick to take offence. You’ll miss out on valuable help.

It may seem that way to you, but don’t miss the point that’s being made, even though you consider it nit-picking. If you have a minimum, it means there’s a minimum price you charge at any stop no matter how close or how far it is. In other words, if one place is $40, you still aren’t willing to do the $5 places for $5. You charge the $5 places your minimum. This is important, because now instead of say, a $40 stop and three $5 stops totaling $55, your minimum - say $20 - just turned that into $40 and three $20 stops totaling $100. Much better, right? Also, if the $40 place cancels their service, the three $5 places, which you are charging $20 each, are still worth it. You don’t have to drop the whole area just because one place cancelled.

You may not like it, but getting the terminology down will help you to have more productive discussions. If we all mean something different, we’ll never know what someone else is talking about. Sometimes, like in the case of the word window, we sort of agree on what it means and still have misunderstandings!

The internet can be a mean place, so I understand if you come in a bit defensive since that’s what you’d usually expect. This place is really cool though, so don’t take anything too seriously. Welcome to the forum and best wishes for your new business!

Also, this forum loves memes. If you don’t, you’ll learn to love them too if you stick around. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I have a new minimum for storefront too. A dollar a pane side. If your not willing to take those five and ten dollar jobs, I thank you and so does my belly and gas tank and landlord… residential comes from those stops quicker than it does for the forty and fifty dollar stops. Why? Time and quantity. You can service 3 or 4 stops in the time of one forty or fifty stop. More owners, more houses.

Potentially.

$1.66 per minute.

The only people who can really answer your pricing questions are your (potential) clients.
Once you start getting bids accepted and rejected you will have a better understanding of what is a good fit for your clients’ business models and your business model.

Totally agree with that.

Hi Marie,
Pricing is always subjective to a few things. How much do you want to make, Who is your competition, and what will your market allow. I’m in New Jersey and the pricing may be a bit higher here and store fronts are not a haul to get to, you need to focus on what the target market will pay. Charging a minimum is fine no matter what others think. I don’t turn down work because of the size of the store if it fits in my route I will take it. One $10.00 turned into a $100.00 (Per Month) dollar account. the 10.00 account. I do have a monthly minimum now but that was not always the case. I do between 200 and 250 storefronts per month now I can pick and choose what fits into my financial plan for my business. Hope this helps

Always good to have another storefront guy around to keep things real.:+1::sunglasses:

Or if you give the stops to employees and they get the tips now.

It seems that some folks look at store front work with a crooked eye or it isn’t worthy of being cleaned for some reason. Dollars are dollars to me. I do pick and choose what I want but, when someone is new to Window Cleaning or starting their business it seems that they are discouraged from doing them… I don’t understand that. It puts the new business owner at a crossroad of not obtaining a steady monthly income. Then they can work on their residential business and look at commercial work. Not to mention what a great training ground storefronts are to perfect your cleaning ability and your speed.

Blessings,
Tom

Tom,

Storefront has been perfect for my learning curve. I do mostly residential right now but I have two restaurants that I do weekly and I have been able to try different methods much faster and easier than trying things in front of a residential customer. It’s hard to. wake up early before my day job but it’s a steady income and the start of many possibilities

$5 An $10 dollar accounts aren’t good unless you have an hours woth of then in any one given area. Driving an hour to clean 2 or 3 accounts for $15-$30 will get old an make you none profitable , so if you can’t add on to it to grow a profitable route dump it.

What’s the diffenrce if you clean 20 5$ stores in an hour or one $ 100 store in an hour. Nothing it all adds up to a $100 an hour.
