Pricing

Hello everyone! We are new to the business and would like opinions on our pricing.
We live in Florida, it would be a two person team and yes we are licensed and insured. This is our pricing for Storefronts only! We have a $40 Minimum $4 per window (inside/out). Does that seem fair, to low or ridiculously high?
We would like to avoid the $5-$20 accounts!
Any advice would be great! thank you!

4 per pane here for storefront is high, our best priced storefronts are about $3 per pane inside and out and our average is $1-1.25 per pane per side

I don’t do many store fronts, but $40 minimum might make you miss stringing a few together on a route. If the store front has a bunch of windows then fine, but you may find yourself being able to string 5 or 6 at $15-$20 each, depending on size? Perhaps hit those where $40 or more is a no brainer.

One particular one I do has two French doors and two divided side lights with a huge front window with perforated vinyl graphics. $55.00. Another comes to mind, a florist, 15 large floor to ceiling panes, two doors with over lights, $53. A convenience store I used to do was $15, 5 large panes and two doors.

one of our most profitable strings of stores is 3 stores next to each other$31 $30 and $15 thougb they always tip to 20 or 25. it takes me about 40 minutes by myself

I can see a $25 minimum and maybe $2.50-3 per pane for storefront.

You might want to go after commercial instead of storefront.

Have you looked over the area(s) you want to target? Do most shops have 10 or more window panes? Unless one is at an outlet mall, at least around where I live, it would be pretty hard to find a string of stores with 10 or more panels.

We only want buildings with 20 plus windows. Not so much strip malls or 5-10 window storefronts. I’m thinking a $40 minimum $4 per window inside and out would be more for larger commercial type buildings.

Hi there! What part of Florida?

Around Gainesville.

We have also debated on a $30 minimum $3 per window inside and out. Only targeting larger buildings not targeting the 5-10 window storefronts. Would that seem fair 20 windows for $60 inside and out

Go after the accounts that are large enough to justify a trip on their own. Then add the smaller businesses around them to fill out each stop and maximize your profit per hour.

$20-$40 is a reasonable minimum for a standalone account, depending on how far out of your way the job is. Then you can gobble up $5-$20 accounts all day long that might make you even more $ per hour when you have then packed close together on the same stop.

Thank you I agree with this statement. We don’t mind doing smaller accounts, but we don’t want to travel 30mins for $5. If we are in the area sure why not,but if it was alone we would pass.

I know here for most commercial work, you have to go thru a janitorial company which are very used to dealing with window cleaners and really wont deal with people who are not in the ball park. But the thing you need is relationships with the supervisor that that area once you have that you will basically just be given the work many times you will be told the budget and its up to you whether you will make what you need.

It is always better to deal with building managers over cleaning companies because I have had times where the janitorial company will charge the client for the clean and not get the clean done, then the building managers are pissed off with you because thinks the last time you didn’t do a good job. when you were never called to begin with to do the job and janitorial company pockets the whole lot. and you can also charge what you want.

I travel 20 min to do 2 jobs side by side that take 20 min total. Each job is only $7 … but each job always tips me to 20$. So i get $40 total for 40 minutes (including travel time). And one of those 2, usually gives me a free lunch.

Don’t knock the low paying stops! U never know!

What happens when the tips stop comming? Hypothetically speaking.

I picked up new stops in the same area so the drive time is moot now. They are super easy stops and nice ppl. Its rather relaxing to do their windows.

I forgot to mention they are both bi-weekly. So i get $80 a month off those 2 little stops.

Nothing wrong with low paying stops if you have more than 1, but I would not travel 30 mins for $20 that’s my gas. I can’t depend on tips I don’t see, same with free lunch. I am more so looking for lager buildings 20 + windows. But of course if someone with 5 windows ask and we happen to be in the area I wouldn’t mind doing it for cheap.

if that’s true, then you don’t really have a minimum

Like I said if We happen to be in the area(Meaning if we already had a account that has reached our minimum), We wouldn’t go out of our way for a low paying account. We do have a minimum. If we don’t have a account in that area we wouldn’t do it for less than our minimum. Not worth it…If that low paying account happened to asking for service we would tell them that we have a minimum and we don’t do it for less. We just happen to be in the area that day. So unless they want to pay our minimum or we are in the area it is not happening. We can’t travel to one job for $5-$20.
