Paint on Bad Tempered Glass

You know the problem. You show up at a PC job. The temp glass is loaded with paint. One touch with a razor gives that characteristic sound. The contractor says do your best. You get a waiver signed. Kind of like the one I signed when I went in for heart surgery. But you don’t want to do harm. What chemical will do the trick and come off clean? We need one too that won’t poof away leaving a mess. This is what the August issue of the PDR will discuss. It will introduce us to solvents. Did you know that water is a solvent? And what defines an organic solvent? What are polar and nonpolar solvents?

So far, I’ve yet to find a solution that doesn’t eat up paint on the siding below the window. I generally pick off the specks of paint with my 1.5", but if it’s over-spray, I explain how tempered glass and F.D. is made in a succinct manner and just wool and squeegee. I’ll blade it if they sign a waiver, but with a reminder that scratching is a strong possibility.
