Eh, I had to stop reading/watching Dilbert because it was my life. When you read this:
and then nod because that happened to you last tuesday, it’s just not a laugh. Seriously, we got a bomb threat for 10am, they evacuated the building at 9:50 (just in case) but when I asked, no one bothered to ask whether the threat was for mountain freakin central time or not.
Humm, it might not be possible to track roi, but like Garry said, it’s about brand. When you see a guy in a red shirt doing a store front, do you know which company he works for? Probably.
Even if you don’t have a nationwide franchise, if all your people are dressed the same, it strikes an impression to customers. It’s also a way to look like a big organization instead of just some guy. It also inspires confidence.
Slapping racing stickers on a mustang doesn’t make it go faster. But if the guy gets out of the car in a flame retardant suit, climbing through a roll cage, you might wonder what he has going on under the hood.
However, in small towns, that uniform might make you look like some corporate out of towner looking to muscle in on the little guy in which case it hurts you.
Can go with that but the T.
Ya want to look " professional" I feel ya gotta have a collar.
Even a lettered out T looks to close to a bob for me.
But there are those who think its fine and that’s good for them.
Peace
I think that sometimes guys get caught up in a hyped up mentality such as thinking that a collared shirt, or polo is necessary or better. And don’t get me wrong I’m not saying anything negative about polo work shirts. We actually used to have some. But honestly I think more important is that you have a uniform clean look with company logo. And you have to be professional when you are in and around homes. That’s what is important.

^^^^That may be True
When looking at it through the person who is wearing it eyes .
Too often people (we) get caught up in how we look to each other, not how we look to a customer from thier perspective
This includes vehicle wraps, buckets, and shirts to name a few.
A tee is just that. A tee shirt. Fine for storefronts and commercial where it really doesnot matter.
However.
You have two wc’ers walk up to a house.
One has a t shirt lettered on the back
The other a collared shirt.
9 times out of ten the home owners first impression will be:
The one with the collared shirt is already more professional looking.
Without knowing just how good their work is .
Why do you think BIG companies for example
Like terinix, stanly steemer, orkin,
Molly maids wear collared shirts ?
To give a professional appearance to their customers, not their peers.
Heck I can’t really think of any big I unfranchised service company that does wear tshirts. (I may be wrong…maybe)
But no one is really looking to be a big company around here, riiiiight?
Maybe I am guilty of trying to get get a physiological edge with my customers while others are happy to look good to their peers.
If a tee works for you,
Then enjoy.
But I will not be one of those peers who will tell you it looks good as a residential wc’ers work cloths.
But that’s just me…
(Thank god)
Peace
*** i am racially insensitive. I am culturally controversial .
I am not politically correct and I wear this with pride. I can give a fat babies dick if you don’t like me (r.m.)
Cleaning Windows is Just My Job, Not My Life…
Didn’t say a thing about a edge.
You (a non customer- just another wcer) did
But now the secrets out.
My nich market is African safaris!!!
Now if I can just teach the elephant in the room to use its trunk to squeegee!!
Pax
Ps. It not a safari shirt.
It’s a fishing shirt
Would not expect you to know the difference
But I guess we all are fishing for something…
I agree, I think it’s more about uniformity than the type of uniform.
Humm, but as I think about it, a polo would stand out a little more. I used to be of the mind that sales persons, managers, leads would have polos and the cleaners would have t-shirts, but I’m leaning more towards all polo. The moisture wicking ones are awesome.
I have ordered from custom ink, good service, I think prices are a bit on the high side. Last time I ordered shirts I used (ooshirts): Custom T-Shirts - T-Shirt Printing - Design Your T-Shirt For Less!, they were just as good and the prices were a lot lower. They also had tall shirts…they stay tucked in on your back side even if they shrink in the wash. If you are ordering different color shirts with the same logo, I think you have to do a separate order or something like that, that’s what it was when I ordered.
Polo and collared shirts do look very nice. I agree. Maybe our next work uniforms actually. Just saying I think it’s more personal preference than anything. We are a service business washing people’s glass. Not golf caddies representing them in front of their buddy’s on the golf course.
