New CCU..$5 a window..WTF?

Inserts or no inserts on the windows? I just finished a 10,000 sqft CCU house with Pellas and it came out to about $13/pane w/inserts, slightly less than 100 of them. If it doesn’t have inserts I’d say around $10-$11 per pane. $5 a pane is ridiculous . . . they must not have insurance, employees, an evading the IRS. Crap they are making less than my employees!

Dave what county were they referring to?

Not $5 a pane…it was $5 a window…So a Double hung window was $5 total.

She said they were out of Rockland.

BELIEVE IT!
And when father & son scratch the **** out of the glass from using dry / dull blades, the builder will be scratching his head wishing he used YOU instead!

Dry or dull blades don’t scratch glass. There are videos on this site showing this fact. Rusty blades will since rust is harder than glass. Defects on tempered glass can be dislodged causing scratches. Those are the things cleaners need to educate themselves about.

Could it be that your presentation on the scratched glass scared them? I don’t know…just wondering.

Maybe it did…maybe it didnt. I dont know. By what they told me it seems the price was the major factor.

ain’t it the truth

I don’t know guys I live in Southern Utah and there are more window cleaners here than in Salt Lake City with about one tenth the population. I just had to bid a construction clean for $3 per pane per side so six dollars for a single paned window. And I feel like in places like Salt Lake you could get double this price. But I have no choice. I barely make out to 300 a day before taxes and this job I bid for $1500 its taking me 5 days. I used to make 150 a day working for somebody else. So its not that much more after expenses almost about the same actually. But thats the way I have to do it to get the account. No scratched glass just hard work and a thanks to Obama I guess.

If you can only compete on price, that’s because you haven’t sold your unique value enough. (or either you don’t even HAVE anything uniquely valuable!) If that’s the case, it’s certainly not President Obama’s fault! It’s no one’s fault but your own.

I agree, although Obama has basically been a disaster

Don’t think he has anything to do w/ construction window cleaning…

If you read the entire blog the mention of people losing their jobs and then thinking its easy to clean windows and flooding the market with too many window cleaners can lead some to blame Obama or the guy before him even. And I was referring to a job that was having cowboys scratch all their glass because they didn’t even care, just so they could save money and I was able to speak with the personal assistant of the owner and he would not have hired me do it unless my price was what it is. So for just starting my business and doing whatever I can to pick up my first $1,500.00 contract I guess your right. I guess that is gloom and doom to me, whoa is me, shame on me poor me, all my fault.

I was referring to other areas, not just window cleaning. Like the deficit, you Obama lover :stuck_out_tongue:

why can’t the people on this website stop the personal attacks when people voice their opinion. if you have facts to share why can’t you people just present them in a helpful positive way. i.e. Oh man you may have been able to get more money outta that job if you picked out some unique value points and sold them on it. good luck jaran for next time.

now wouldn’t that have been more productive.

even though its as high as they would have paid. and i’m not gonna turn down work.

I’ve been called worse, by meaner people.

I see this going to “The Fridge” real fast.

I think part of it is that you’re new, and you came out kind of strong in some of your responses. I have met Michael personally and he is a great guy and always willing to help out. I do know he LOVES Obama so maybe he was turned off by your comment. If you are able to stay positive even when others provoke you, you will earn respect here, and you will learn A LOT. Some on here have shared some pretty closely guarded secrets with me. Hang in there, and good luck!

I don’t know, Michael, that’s about as bad as it gets
