Are you printing the flyers yourself?
With a household printer you will get maybe 250 pages before you need new ink, I would suggest outsourcing the printing

I agree with you. Iā€™ve talked to a couple crews in person that I have seen working around here and most seem nice and helpful. Enough windows to go aroundā€¦ I hope haha

I did that as an example on Adobe Illustrator. Your home printer will run out of ink pretty quickly, but should be enough to land a few jobs, then turn it over to a professional printer for door hangers. First go around start with about 2,000-2,500 and see how they do, then go over them and see what changes you should make and order another round before you run out. If they are correct you will get calls within a couple of weeks, if not then make your adjustments and try again.

Well I just ran into a problem. Someone about an hour away has the same name as me. They also are sole proprietor so I can legally still use it BUT I donā€™t want that. They do not have a website, only a google business account under the name I want and a Facebook under the name I want with 0 reviews, I am guessing they are new as well. The thing is, I already paid for a wix website and domain, insurance, cards, shirts, email, etc. I donā€™t want to steal anyoneā€™s name they worked hard for. I now can not use " central Kentucky window cleaning" for my Facebook page username or my google business name. I know I can LLC, And be a business entity of the state and have that name locked but I donā€™t want to even attempt to think about using someone elseā€™s name.

Should I take the loss on the paid website (unless I can change the website and domain) and take the loss on the cards and shirts and rename it? This is a business I am investing into for long term growth. I want to start it right.

As far as the fliers, I have decided that I will just pay for them to be printed professionally. What editing program would better for designing these? Using all mac products

Did you register the name?

One of the first steps in naming a business is to check the availability of names your thinking of.

What would you estimate you spent in time and money so far.

I havenā€™t registered the business name and I checked the availability, there no businesses under that name registered. I just found these guys while putting my business on google and found them on Facebook too. Iā€™ve invested 300-400 so far, it will take 7 business days to get approved by wix to cancel the website I have made, I would prefer to have my official new website on my new cards, shirts, fliers before I buy all new.

If you truly want that name you already spent money on it. Iā€™d register it, have them change.

You could register and send them a cease and desist letter since they donā€™t have a website or registered business name. Or you could change the name of your business on everything REGISTER IT and throw away all you have done so far.

Will this work if I am only a sole proprietor?

Yes

Doesnt matter what type of business your setup under, if you register a business name nobody else can use that same name he could always do Jims Central Kentucky window cleaning though

That would be okay with me. I just got off the phone with the state. Sole proprietor is registered at a county level and LLC is state wide. The state cost to LLC is $40.

If I LLC my name will be locked in state wide from what the lady said on the phone.

If you file with the county then yes, it is only good in the county filed.

If you are a sole proprietor filing with the state, assumed name canā€™t be used by anyone statewide.

I would double check

The card stock is more for sureā€¦you can print two per page on regular paper and it will still look greatā€¦as you take in some money then you can get the card stockā€¦but the regular paper will do fineā€¦maybe just get the higher gauge paperā€¦and that will work.

What program would be good for me to design these?

You could to your local design school or Vocational School and ask the instructor if his students need a live class assignment. Winner gets a free window cleaning or pressure washing.

Thatā€™s actually not a bad idea hahah

Once you have your file, go to a UPS store. .50 a copy on high stock and the look is professional. I was very pleased with mine. And they did it while I waited.

Okay guys, got my LLC and ready to invest in marketing. Iā€™ve desired to try postcards bc I can have them printed 10,000 for around 250$. Not bad. Of course I do not plan to do my batch nearly that big bc I want to experiment with design to get the best RIO. my question, say I have a lot of postcards, what would it cost to have someone distribute them for me, and what ways are there to distribute them.
EDDM, me go door to door, pay a company to go door to door, etc etc. your opinions. Thank you
