Need Help with the new forum?

Unfortunately, they are not available on the new platform. I have the data backed up though as it is on the product roadmap to release a groups feature here. Once it’s available, I will get the old groups and info restored to the new database.

well i hate change but slowly getting used to the new format.
i do seem to be doing something wrong though because i can’t reliably see new posts like on the old forum. i have been on multiple times per day and yet just now a bunch of posts appear that i shuld have seen before and didn’t?!?

Are you on a phone or desktop?

Desktop so far

Alright so on the home page - http://windowcleaner.com/

You will see this nav bar.

By default the home page - shows you the latest threads ( indicated in red )

A running list of the latest threads in order. If a new post appears while your on that page it updates like this:

Indicating a new post has occurred. If you reload your page, it will have also show new posts.

All categories - a drop down menu of all categories. Think subforums or tags ( subjects )
Latest - The most recent feed of all site activity
New - Kind of redundant to “latest” Will likely be removing the button
Unread - Unread every thread that you haven’t read since you have been here.
Top - Posts with the most action
Categories - A page listing out all of our subforums and topics.

Keep asking questions if that doesn’t make sense.

Really like it honestly has reinvigorated my interest in the forum and it seems it has others

Brian is right. I’m more interested in the forum again, fresh face and better functionality. I like change, just not the Obama kind.

Glad you guys are enjoying it. I have wanted to make this move for almost 18 months now. It just took a lot of careful planning to get the logistics right.

I know I’m probably the only one who is saying this, but…

I DO kind of miss the banner at the top of the page.
It always had some nice ‘suggestive’ stuff to read/buy.

It’s the only advertising I can honestly say I appreciated.

Are you mainly a desktop user?

Desktop and my Ipad for the most part.

Sorry. Yes. Mainly Desktop user.

Well, I never would have thought people would want to see more ads. We made a conscious effort in this rebuild to yank as much of the advertising as possible. On mobile ( phones ) where most of our traffic comes from now, we don’t even show ads.

If your really jonesing for the old sliders, you can still see them in our store. Same location - > https://shopwindowcleaner.com/

Love this. I hate browsing most forums on my phone, because of the ridiculous banner ads. They’ll have a huge banner at the top for the site, and popup banners on the bottom. You’re left with a little sliver of useable screen space when in landscape mode. If you’re lucky, you can close the lower banner- but a new one pops up on the next page. Car forums are the worst, it seems.

Thank you for not doing that to us!

We are at the point now where we can do that. In the past, it was hard as we scraped to survive and grow. We are relatively self-sustaining now. ( as a business ) The way I look at it is we should sacrifice everything possible in favor of the best user experience possible.anything

have 4 WFP units and a 200 gal/day unit at the shop filling tanks. Have looked at the new layout a couple of times, and I don’t see spending much time here. Sorry, it isn’t about not liking change, it is the what/how the change comes. I bought an iMac when all the support for XP was dropped. I don’t like the newer versions of windows, so I don’t use them

I knew you would be back.

ha. Trust me, I never thought I’d be saying it.
It was more a compliment, you guys have never been intrusive, and I appreciate that.

The Banner was actually ‘worthwhile stuff’ -that’s more what I meant.
