P.S. I always clean the tracks because the solution from cleaning the window will turn the dirty track into mud. As soon as the customer opens the window I anticipate them to be pleased, not pissed.

likewise, tracks and washing screens (we include brushing the screens) have always been upsells for us that very few take us up on. we’re thinking about switching to a Good, Better, Best - tiered pricing option. most people seem to choose the middle option so thats good for us since that would drive our average ticket up since our current service sits just below the Better option.
we’re thinking:
Good: Just the glass, inside and out $10 for a double hung
Better: The glass and WASH the screens $13 for a double hung
Best: The glass, wash the screen and clean the tracks $16 for a double hung
so for a house that has 20 windows it would be $200 or $260 or $320
we’re not sure if our market will take it since right now we’re at $220 for the glass and brushing off the screens.

In my market its a little different, every customer, EVERY one always asks me if I do the screens and the tracks.
We don’t have very many double hungs here, but I would be at $13 for tracks, frames, screen and of course the glass.

I get this a whole lot too. Even the rare occasion when you can just tell the customer never opens their windows, they want to know if tracks are included. Makes no sense, everything from furniture placement to full on spider webs shows the windows don’t get opened. THOSE jobs the price taps up a bit because extra work to get it “looking better”.
Here the climate is mild year round, 90% of my customers open their windows or keep them open always, so screens and tracks are ALWAYS dirty, however i developed a method of track cleaning that takes minimum time
care to share?

I am new and still mark my price down 15-25% after figuring it to get the job. It’s bad business as I’m breaking barely breaking even and will not be able to scale and hire. 
unless I stick to it.
Even if they don’t ask for the screens to be cleaned I often do anyway and the tracks and frames and sills as part of the job. I really need to buck up and stick to my prices.

Take this for what it is worth to you, but especially on first cleans, you should not be dropping your price out of fear for not getting the job. Present your quote with an air of confidence and deliver on a job well done.
If you offer more work for the same price people will accept that from you. Most people realize the value of adding extra aspects to the job.
A contractor will remodel your bathroom for you for a price, and in addition paint your hallway and replace baseboards in the hall for an additional price. You won’t be successful by leaving money on the table.

I keep telling myself that, especially the first cleans. Some of these LAs Vegas windows are dirtier than Detroit Pistons Bad Boys. I double the normal time at the homes and they are SO happy and say it’s the best ever but I’m ticked and don’t even want their money.

Pretty much I average to about 10-12 a window on every job. I rarely do glass only. This is ground level windows only. I charge more for ladder work.

Yeah, i am thinking of a tierd price as well, but i want to test the waters on commercial first. I would be 10 for your better, but i always wash the screen. Most of the houses i clean havent been done in years (which is why i started charging 50% more for really dirty houses) so i always strongly recamendthat they wash the screens. 13 for better it likely what I will move too.
